Then you are the RARE exception. Blacks and Section 8 DESTROY a neighborhood. Call me racist, don't care. IT's TRUE that there is more crime, drugs, shootings etc than in 'nicer' communities that DON'T have many BLACKS and SECTION 8. They need to re-open the Projects and put the blacks and low-life scum there to live and NOT ruin our nice lily-white neighborhoods!!!

Section 8 is stealing money from working families and giving it to the recipient class, so they can live among hard working families.

This is supposed to be 'fair'?

It also drives up rental cost, since Section 8 always pays more than the actual market value of rent.

Section 8 tenants also have more protection, as the landlord has to meet certain specifications to quality, private rentals do not have to meet the same requirements.

It is the government steals from working class people and their families and giving it the dependent recipient class.

Nothing to do with race, but it is basically government theft!

I deal with section 8 people all the time., they are nothing but problems. First off, its a voluntary program, so if the landlords want the tenants out, they just fail their own building. Tenants are constantly lying about who is living with them, and how much their household income really is. Since they have never had to pay for things, they don't take care of them. They just move again, and get all new stuff. The landlords inflate the cost of the rent, because they know the tenant is not going to pay their portion. They all have 40 inch lcd televisions, and air conditioning. In fact the one unit i just saw in stowe a few days ago had a bar in the basement, and it was huge! These people live nicer than the people paying taxes for them to live. The minute they break something and the landlord won't fix it, they call the health department. IT's so sad. They should get rid of the section 8 inspectors, and just use the health dept. from the get-go. That way if the units are not kept up in good shape , it is cited, and under a criminal code.

One of the problems with Wilkinsburg is it has loads and loads of section 8 housing which is bad for the community the owners of the homes do not police the residents and they do not keep up the property, it has been documented that where ever section 8 homes are that mainstream crime is the main issue.
I live across from a whole row of section 8 homes and the owners Arhco has done nothing to make sure those that are living in the homes are really the ones on the least. The one house at 1439 Mill st zip 15221 had a man die in the house of a drug overdose I was told heroin.
Around 2:00 in the morning the coroner's van came to bring the man out in a body bag it was the residents boy friend who had been living there.
When the company and HUD was notified about the man dying in the home from a drug OD to this very day nothing has been done. And our tax dollars continue to pay for those people to stay in that home. Most of the crime in Wilkinsburg can be tracked back to section 8 residents, who have nothing vested in the community. I am hoping that funding stops for this program or at least make those in the program pay over 70% of their rent and utilities. The program needs to be harder to get involved in and those on it should only be able to stay on it for 7 years or less. No more generations living on the Government. ;)
Do you still live in Wilkinsburg?

In some cities attempts to spread section 8 housing into decent neighborhoods has led to some formerly decent neighborhoods becoming crime ridden because of the animals they bring into these neighborhoods. Maybe if we stopped feeding and housing these people they would learn to reproduce responsibly!
If section 8 residents cannot afford to support kids why have more?

They plan on more children because everyone else will pay. Quite simply, because they can!

And Section 8 allows taxes unpaid for several years.

Because it is the same people, Jerome and Tamika, who constantly refuse to better themselves. The projects were built to assist you to get by for a couple of years...NOT A LIFETIME!!!! I see this everyday and it is the same people who have lived in the projects for decades. We are stupid for putting up with it. The working person is the idiot for letting Jerome and Tamika get away with living in the projects all their adult life. They should be held to a higher standard and forced to work, like slaves...dont they want to better themselves? AHH NO, why should they when the government gives them hand outs every day and they can sling their Heroin to Whitey. Then drive around in there Cadillac Escalade or Hummer with 21 inch rims. Why get a job when Whitey can support you. Yes the working man is the fool...just sayin...YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!

keep section 8 out of my neighborhood. Put them all in the getto then i wouldnt care if i had to pay for them to live there. just keep them out of my area and my school. We need to re-open St. Clair Village and Arlington Heights, Westgate village and all the other projects in the city of Pittsburgh. then that will get them animals out of tax payers neighborhoods. when they close projects down where do you think they move the animals? TO YOUR Area. Keep the projects open. call your congressman and tell them to re-open the project and then they can put homeless people in there also.
McKeesport Housing Authority loves section 8. They get government funding based on filling a quota of programs. They get funds for the city to pocket and not do much work for the funds. It's the reality of keeping the city running now. Now Haler Heights has ATV parks lowering property values. The best part of McKeesport is now soon to be a new dump area.
