Peduto is a mayoral candidate seeking to take his party's nomination from Ravenstahl, and that is the motivation for his comments. That said, this incident, and others under investigation in the police bureau, may prove difficult for the boy-mayor to surmount. And while the mayor may terminate Harper's employment as chief, denial of his pension is not within the mayor's discretion.
But this is a considered opinion on the topic, whereas The Delegate's post is simply a troll playing his game.
