County Police officers this year will have over 28 officers and maybe more making over $100,000 this year 2012.Not bad for patroling North & South park. Some topping out at $180,000. Chief Moffatt has done nothing to crub Overtime pay.. he is to busy getting all his friends and family Jobs in the county..Time to shake up the department of just get rid of it..
There are seven county parks, the Pittsburgh and county airports, and the courthouse to patrol, as well operate the county forensics lab and detectives unit in support of smaller municipal forces. Police overtime abuse is common enough, and especially so with the county police, and should not be minimized, but do so without bullsh*t minimization of their responsibilities.

Allegheny county sheriff's department has 150 deputies who provide court security, transport prisoners and guard them at hospitals, and serve warrants for custody and on fugitives. Sheriff William Mullen said his budget for the department is $11.6 million a year.

The County Police has 285 members and a $24 million budget, according to Chief Charles Moffatt. The members of his department step in to help municipalities with investigations of homicides and narcotics trafficking and can provide a SWAT team or bomb squad. They also are responsible for patrolling the county's parks and the airports on a daily basis.

State Police Could Handle the Airports, DAs Office and State police could handle Homicides with City of Pgh Police Merge of Dectective Units.. Parks could be handled By the Local Boro Police that is in the Park, Like South park is In both Bethel park and South Park Twp and in Summer time the Allegheny Sheriffs could help out.. Swat and Bomb squad could be a Combo of officers from All Departments that have the Training and Only needed when called out..
.. Sheriff Deartment also should take over the Poorly ran Jails in Allegheny.. They bring the Prisoners in and out of the jails so why not let them take over the operation of the Jail.. As you can see we can save millions of Dollars by cutting Departments that are not needed

I agree theyre needed to some degree, but not at the rate they get paid and other departments could easily pick up what they do. Im sorry but AC SWAT is a joke. After attending the academy and seeing the "SWAT Team" and "SWAT Vehicles" they have; i just laughed. They drive around an old bread truck like theyre tough shit and they dont have the gear or education to even come close to what Pitt SWAT does. The bomb swuad.... All i have to say is Officer Wojnar is a joke and a half. He came to teach the academy and all of the Cadets knew he was a joke on day one.

State police are undermanned already, and have said so; shall they also handle every other airport operated by a county authority across the state, putz? And you want them to handle homicides, too? The municipalities won't agree to patrol county parks, and do you think the sheriff's Dept. has the manpower either, putz? Do you think any of the many agencies you so blythly assign additional duties would do so without additional funding? there goes your supposed savings, putz! Good gawd, boy, but you're stunningly ignorant about the politics and operation of state, county and municipal governments! You would save nothing, creating huge additional expenses by requiring unprecedented coordination of independent agencies at multiple levels of government!
What an ignorant azzhat!
