Tonight I was watching the "Best of Both Worlds" concert, and I was hoping I could understand why her fanbase is so huge. Unfortunately, when I heard her sing I could not even continue watching, or needless to say listen, to Miley Cyrus.
Everyone who supports Miley, please compare her voice to someone like Feist. Feist's voice has depth, and when she sings--it has so much passion. I saw Feist live once and the room is just silent when she sings a cappella; she sounded a million times better than on CD.
Now you take Miley Cyrus--her voice obviously sounds better on track than it does in concert.
What has the music industry come down to? It's disappointing that someone like Miley, who quite honestly cannot sing, can get a record deal and top the music charts. She sings corporate crap and her music, which might be popular now, will lose its fire and eventually end up being thrown into a drawer with Britney Spears's CD never to be seen again.
The lyrics are not deep, not even the one she wrote for her father; the arrangement of the music is horrible (i.e. 7 things); and her voice quite frankly sucks.
I think it's good music for kids and young girls--it's fun, upbeat, and catchy; but when people are saying that she is a "true artist" and "a pop culture phenomenon of the music industry"--it worries me.
Whatever happened to music that wasn't corporate crap? Music that had depth and meaning? Artists that played music for the people and not for the money?

Miley has a name for herself, she got a part on one of disney's biggest successes since high school musical, and now she breaks out with an album. the only reason people like her music is because she has the acting carreer as hannah montana to back her up. She sings very low, and cannot reach any high notes, basically her voice has no real range. She is the product of great disney advertising, and a famous relative. People make such a big deal over her, but i applaud her for what shes done, no matter if she has talent or not, she has what i want.. a tv show and a solo album, i;m auditioning for a disney show myself and I really hope i get the part.
