Poor Weather Forcasting

I am totally finished watching the local weather. I've had enough of the goof-ups. They can't even come close anymore in their forcasts. Hurricane Sandy, high winds in excess of 50 mph and up to 6 inches of rain, I got a slight breeze and 2 inches of rain. Fifty degrees for a high, I'm looking out the window at the snow comming down. Then we have winter comming. O BOY. Call for 6 inches, we get a light dusting. Call for 2 inches, don't go out unless you have to. The weather forcasting turned into a Hollywood Production. I remember years ago when the weather person using a pointer stick had what looked like a poster board with a drawing of a map. It seemed like then they pretty much got the forcast right. Whats with this forcasting now? My goodness. Im just going to go with whats going on miles and miles west of me, I'll probably see it soon enough.

I don't remember any weather system like this ever occuring before...a northern hurricane interacting with a cold font in such a unique pattern. I don't think old style meteorologists would have done any better (probably would not have known what to make of it).
These current guys were just giving their best interpretations from computer simulations that had no real precedence, and I feel they did a credble job too, given all the uncertainty. I too experienced a minimal impact from this storm, but at least they gave me a chance to be prepared.
Yes, it's true, they didn't really know how this would play out; they just warned us that many would be badly impacted...and many were and there still are many suffering great losses. Some just didn't listen to the warnings and I can already imagine the numerous complaints we're going to hear about the government not doing enough. You and I were lucky. A slight variation in conditons could have gotten us nailed too.
