Not only that, but our schedules can be changed at the drop of a dime, and we are made to pressure the customers into opening Macy's accounts.
It goes on our review. If we don't meet our goal for that, we don't get our shiny quarter.
I should know. After automatically converting May company card holders to Macy's card holders, there is almost no one left to open accounts for.
I missed out on my shiny quarter this year because of it.

It's no wonder why the workers are not so bubbly anymore. The store manager will call a meeting to remind us of how much we suck opening credits, and all the while there are only 2 people watching our department of 15 cosmetic counters.
An hour later, we come back to lines of angry customers, wondering where we've been.

It's bad enough that Macy's spoiled the customers by offering these damned free gifts twice a year with the cosmetic purchases. Now the customers are angry when we don't have a gift every single time they stop by...

but to make matters even worse, now we have to
come back from moral bruising meetings and deal with customers with even bigger chips on their shoulders.

I don't think the dress code is a big deal.
Nobody in my store seems to mind very much wearing black. What we do mind, is this measly little salary and all of our responsibilities..which are constantly doubling and tripling.
Nobody knows if they should be in the isle trying to sell a product, or chasing a customer for a credit card,..or manning the register.

Quit complaining about Macy's, it is the last great department store left, if you need more go to Bloomingdale's. If you don't want to go to the stores then go online,(http://www.macys.com/ or http://www.bloomingdales.com/ ) Sorry to say but all other places, like Jc Penney, Mervyn's, Kohl's, carry generic, cheap crap. Macy's is still affordable, and they have the biggest selections. Just the truth... and of course there will always be some workers that are rude, but remember, for every bad one there are 20 good ones.

I worked at Macy's (Maybe it was LAzarus but I think it was Macy's) for two days back in high school- it was horrible. I also work with someone who worked for Kaufmann's and Macy's once Kaufmann's got bought out- she makes it seem like Macy's is the most miserable company every. I'm glad I don't work there. IT seems so cut throat.

TRust me, my union pres isn't walking around in suits living the life of mobstar- we are a SMALL independent union and ours is the only chapter. I'm also young, and just cuz I didn't leave doesn't mean I'm worthless. There's also a plethora of young folks that are coming into the region (I see them all the time, hell two just moved on my block alone) because we have hope for it. I really don't think you've been anywhere cuz Pittsburgh isn't all that horrible. Why is it that all of the tourists I've talked to (and believe me, I talk to them all the time) say this city is great? I think you're bitter.

Doesn't matter when you get high you're brain is still toast. I can't and don't get high at all I get random drug tested, and guess what my union won't protect me cuz we know if we're caught we are wrong and no one can defend us. Oh and the biomed lab went up rather quick in Oakland---I was a pitt student before it went up and it was up when I graduated. I had class right behind the site. I caught the bus right in front of the site every day the entire time and watched them get it built. Trust me, they worked. Four years isn't too bad for a building, of course unless you want it pulling a David L Lawrence Convention Center on ya.
