I would really like to know what the people of Pittsburg think about having alcohol at chickfest? There are alot of christians that are against it and others that support it. I've heard the owner of the bar is suppose to be making some sort of monetary donation to the chamber of commerce in Pittsburg based from his sales. I have also heard there are alot of groups boycotting chickfest as well as they have cancelled their street booths with the chamber. Do you support alcohol at chickfest or not? What have you heard about the rest?

I agree with no alcohol. Kids will still be around downtown when this is going on.

I thankful for Rev. Greg Miller, of Crossroads Baptist Church, for standing up and saying NO to alcohol at Chickfest! Shame on our chamber of commerce director and board members for supporting this! The almighty dollar does not rein in heaven.

No alcohol is the right thing to do at a festival that has kids and gospel music.

Well I read about this in the Longview News Journal, saw it on tv, and here it is again. Hopefully both sides can work out something to the benefit of everyone.

As pitiful as the economy is I think that increased food and alcohol sales would be a good thing in Pittsburg. The same people might also visit the local businesses and spend more money making it better for everyone. Hopefully the Tommy Lee Biker Run is a great success for everyone.

Well you little hypocritical Bible thumpers can stay at home. I for one am in favor of the lawful, moderate consumption of alcohol, and as such, this will be the first year I go to Chickfest. I support lawful decision making.

I've heard the same things too. I also had applied for the chamber director job, was more qualified than the clerk that got it, and am a bit upset after finding this information out today. A note to the public, in Pittsburg, unless you "know someone" forget about getting a job that you are qualified for. I know of another position in town where this also ocurred. I didn't apply for that job, but know the same thing happened there.

Look at todays Pittsburg Gazette in the letters to the editor. It's the main topic of discussion. The chamber president wrote a letter why they are supporting it and local residents wrote why they do not want it. It's interesting to say the least and now it is on this website. Hope it all works out for everyone.

Seems like it was no big deal. Tons of peoples showed up, unlike previous years. Everyone had a great time and no drunks laying in the street. The parade was great. Much bigger that Ive ever seen. There must have been 200 motorcycles in the parage and they came back and lined up by the courthouse. What a show!
What was the big deal?
