We are ostracizing these two individuals before our legal process has even been completed. Please do not take this the wrong way. I am not in any way condoning what these two have done and the mistakes they have made have led to the death of a talented young man is certain. Our legal process is not perfect and it never will be but we need to give it a chance. Our entire process is founded on innocent until proven guilty. According to all the previous posts these two are already guilty in all your minds. Again if these two are found to be guilty of hate crimes and/or involuntary manslaughter let them face the maximum penalty they deserve it. IF they are found of just invading ones privacy and we feel the punishment doesnt fit the crime we need to speak to our law makers and urge the revisit the punishment for breaking that law. There is no point in getting all worked up before we know the truth. My heart goes out to the Clementi Family, my Alma Mater Rutgers, and all those who were close to Tyler may his soul rest in peace.

I did not know, or ever hear, of Tyler until this tragic incident. I am deeply saddened that this happened. It all too soon reminds me of what I felt growing up.
I wish all the sympathy and love for his family,
that I can.
PLEASE. let not this young man die in vain. Let us all do our part to stop the hatred, so no more tragic suicides occur. Support and love our youth.
Encourage them to be the best person they can, no matter what their sexual or gender orientation is.
If you don't like or approve of someone, in any way, Walk away. If you did not know or associate with them before you met, then you have no reason to care about their personal life, and won't miss not knowing them after.
PLEASE stop casting aspersions at this young man. His passing is tragic and SAD enough. Do not add salt to the wound. If you couldn't treat or think of him respectfully in life, at least have the decency to let him pass with dignity. He can no longer speak for himself.
I'm sorry Tyler, that the world was not ready for someone as special as you. Please be a guardian angel to those you loved, and loved you. Watch over all the other gay boys and girls who are frightened and intimidated to be themselves.
Rest in peace.
Love,
A friend, who never got to meet you.
nice to see there a love ing heart out there

5 years you are kidding, they didn't push him over...heck he could have made big bucks for the gay porn tape if they'd split it with him
this is stupid 5 years, but you shoot somebody who is attacking you & you get life, I bet the hate card will be used because he's GAY.......Hogwash, America is spiriling downward daily, no justice, no morals & no God fearing people standing against sin.
pure Sodom & Gomorah ... soon will be ashes as well
Oh, dear, God--please let us pray that this poster doesn't end up anything that can spread this evil message onto others. I only agree with one thing s/he says: America is spiriling downward daily. It has to be if people in our country still think and talk as this person. Pure hatred...let's hope that too soon will be ashes as well.

Pray for this woman or man, please. This poster's heart has no space left it it.

" ...

... May all the men be able to remember they are all brothers ..."

English is not my mother langage and being not able to properly translate these words of Voltaire, i will not try it.
Hope some of you can read it.

What i would like to say, it's up to us to try to make a better world and there is only one way to achieve this, yesterday like today : never forget what this word - Tolerance - means.

And if we can add some "love", it will be a bonus to not neglect.

May all the "Tyler" of the world find some peace where they are ...

I'm from Sweden. News travel and now I've Googled for "Tyler Clementi" and found this forum. I've got a few things to say to you guys like the ones behind the nicknames "why be ashamed" and "interested":
-Please be quiet. You embarrass yourselves. This is not respectful. What you say spreads worldwide.
Or, like Russel Crowe would put it, "What you do in life echoes in eternity".

And to those of you who thinks punishment is the way to deal with the couple who did this filming: Don't you know your own crime statistics? It doesn't help. It doesn't prevent others from doing the same thing. This boy and this girl did something incredibly stupid. But think of them as kids, someone's very dearest. These two will need lots and lots of help to deal with the consequences of their "harmless fun". Locking them away for 5 or 7 or 10 years is not a solution. It's revenge. I'm not into that. I'm more into longlasting change and recovery.
