Weed burn spreads to claim barn, chicken coop

The father of Silver City's fire marshal was burning weeds in his yard Friday afternoon when the fire that spread out of control onto a neighbor's property and burned down a barn and chicken coop and threatened two homes before it was contained and put out.

his father started a fire inadvertantly whilst burning weeds in his yard, not shooting fireworks into a preschool.

to the best of my knowledge this was not an act sanctioned by the fire marshal or any other member of SCFD.

i can only imagine the reaction of the Fire Marshal when recieving this call.

The Fire Marshal has risked for the lives and holdings of the residents of grant county fot a number of years.
His son rushed ahead of a wild grass fire to warn people in a threatened structure.
