Really?
So a code passed by a politician supercedes the "supreme law of the land"?
Do you see how that defies logic?
What is the supreme law of the land?

If not the constitution?

A group of people I use church because it's close to a governing body in fact in Darien "residents" did just that, paid taxes to the church.
Link please.

Sounds bizarre.

A group of your neighbors get together and decide that you owe them money, is that legitimate to you?
You will pay it because it has already been decided that you reside in their district.
I pay school taxes and have no kids but it's for the common good.

Get in line with the rest of us.

"Thank you, sir, may I have another?!!"

Seriously though, our duly elected government at work.

I didn't like paying for W's wars but that's the way it is here in the US of A.

Get with the program.

If I am not an American Citizen the law doesn't apply?
All they are is groups of people.
So you are drawing some kind of distinction between a group of people and "duly elected representatives".
Theft is theft if you have any kind of morals , at least the church isn't forcing you to tithe.
Again, are you an American citizen? Do you consider yourself a "good American?"

Are you happy to be living here? Would you rather live somewhere else? Just curious. You sound disgruntled.(Like a postal employee...)

Do you not believe in elections? Democracy?

Belonging to any religion is voluntary as far as I know - agreed. Same with tithing. Not so with taxes. Agreed.

Same with having auto insurance if you drive. This is fair, moral, ethical in my opinion.

Trends. Look at the trajectory in the article I posted. Its buffered with estimates of statistical certainty.(Dont you hate when life isnt black or white?)

You know, the article that you still refuse to read and therefore have an intelligent conversation about?

I am still waiting to conduct an intelligent conversation. Just throwing random sound bites gleaned from alternative media does not equal intelligent conversation.

and wasn't it Ben Franklin who said, something like - judging from what I have observed here, I have no doubt. that G-D has a Hand, in TheWritting of This Document.

The 16th amendment doesn't allow seizure of property without a warrant.

You stated in the past that the only thing making the government legitimate is the fact that they will put you in a cage, so why do you even bother babbling about the common good?

Ahh the political organization known as new Hampshire does not require insurance.

I am very happy here in my voluntary society, but as always there are those that want to be left alone and those that don't leave you alone.

When was the last time anyone voted on having a government or not?

"Seizure" means "taking by force."

Taxation has been explained to you.

Same with the form of gov't we have.

You're making a straw argument.

I don't recall saying that. Perhaps your interpretation.

Our gov't is legitimate due to the way it was formed and the inherent checks and balances. We see it working everyday. It ain't always pretty but all in all it works.

And, despite what you say, you have no better ideas of how to do it.

Libertarians have made strides recently.

Having said all of that, please tell me which of the categories below you would place the belief in a Supreme Being.

1. Journalism

2. Law

3.Medicine

4. Accounting

5. Languages

6. Maths

7. Religion.
Hey Hugh,

Everything originates from one reality, or in other words everything in existence is a graded manifestation of a single, self-existent, self-contained source.

The subjects listed by you above belong to the lower reaches of the mind and as such they're not to be taken seriously and should be used in a constructive manner for the little worth they have which means that each subject listed above has its little uses and serious limitations.

Don't expect to find truth in inferences, numbers, surmises and hazy physical facts. The truth is far vaster and profounder.

Those subjects that you've mentioned above are mere surface effects of deeper causes.

Math (my favorite subject), languages, medicine and the like have far more utility in the ordinary life than religion which in most cases is an exercise in perversity, irrationality, myopia, ignorance and fanaticism.

Remember, all truth is fact but all fact is not truth.

Above all, act with caution, very great caution, when dealing with the religious teachings that are either mumbo jumbo or unbridled fanaticism.

Choose wisely.
