Going out to the sleek Thai Pavilion at the Taj Vivanta for a small bite and to catch up with conversation. My friends are already there and are repeatedly calling and texting me to join them at least for a short while. Bye, everyone. Later.

Judged: 1 http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2013/0... Beyoncé's Rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner Was Awesome. It Was Also Lip-Synced. ...[T]o close observers, it seems evident that the performer was not singing live. To press seated just below the podium, in front of the “President’s Own” Marine Corps Band, it was evident that the band wasn’t actually playing during the song—even though band director Colonel Michael J. Colburn was conducting energetically and the band members mimicked blowing into their instruments.... ....The pop singer isn't the first performing artist to rely on a recording during winter weather. At Obama's first inauguration, cellist Yo-Yo Ma and violinist Itzhak Perlman also played along to a previously recorded version of their work, no doubt because of the frigid temperatures. Still, the news that Beyoncé's performance wasn't the real deal is still a little bit of a let down given the rave reviews that quickly poured in online and elsewhere after the performance.(In the measured words of TMZ: "IT WAS F**KING AWESOME.")... |
rabbee: yeah but the womans Hot Apple Pie from it, tends to attract males. |
|
rabbee: so? that is no excuse, to not believe in G-D. lots of people use other words, to not believe in G-D too. some people even call themselves alex or muslem, in order to not believe in G-D. |
|
rabbee: this is a, capital offense. |

Is nothing real anymore?! I heard talking heads arguing this morning over who sang better - Beyonce or Kelly Clarkson. I say if she really sang it and it looked like it, Kelly Clarkson.(I missed the Beyonce number.) And I'm not even a Kelly Clarkson fan. If performers think they won't be able to do their thing in the cold, then they should pass on the invitation to perform outside in January. If you can't take the cold, stay out of the inauguration! |

TMZ:
Kelly Clarkson doesn't compare to Beyonce -- because Kelly actually sang her song LIVE yesterday at the Presidential Inauguration ... TMZ has learned ... unlike Beyonce, who lip-synced to a pre-recorded track. A spokesperson for the U.S. Marine Corp Band -- which provides the music for the Inauguration -- tells TMZ, Beyonce mouthed the words to a pre-recorded studio version of "The Star-Spangled Banner." But the rep added, Kelly sang "My Country 'Tis of Thee" WITHOUT the help of a backing track. The rep said it's standard procedure to record a backing track before a live performance such as this -- you know, just in case -- and Bey decided at the last minute to rely on the studio version instead of winging it in person. The rep added, "We all know Beyonce can sing ... We don't know why she chose to use the pre-recorded track." Read more: http://www.tmz.com #ixzz2IjUhKjcV http://tmzstore.com |

I find the whole business ridiculous. There is no reason the band could perform live. I have lots of fine memories of marching band in the cold. You deal with it, th emusic suffers, and everybody understands I didnt realize YoYo Ma wasnt live either, 4 years ago. I heard that "live" and didnt really care for it - thought the mood was a downer - perhaps more appropriate later on in the program. That said, I understand that solo string instruments in the cold are a bad deal. I agree. If she cant sing in the cold (and DC wasnt even really cold) then she shouldnt have accepted. |

Elsewhere I read that the band spokesperson said the band DID perform live. Our gov't would never lie to us, right? :)) |

He probably played the trombone in his own high school marching band until he was asked to stay in the bleachers for everyones sonic protection. |

http://hotair.com/greenroom/ UPDATE January 22, 12:10 PM:“We don’t know why Beyoncé decided to use prerecorded music,” a spokesperson for the Marine Corps Band told us this morning.“All music [for inaugural ceremonies] is prerecorded as a matter of course, and that’s something we’ve done for years and years. The Marine Band did perform live throughout the ceremony but we received last-minute word that Beyoncé wanted to use the recording.” The spokesperson also added that everyone knows Beyoncé is a gifted singer, and her decision has no bearing on her musical ability. |

Former--Some of my BEST friends are men.:) HughBe---I take it that best for you means INTIMATE. Former--Why is it that you appear unfamiliar with your native language/dialect, mon? HughBe--- No MON, I understood you the first time and in your world BEST=INTIMATE. I have noted the smile as well and I take it as confirmation of the pleasures you get with your BEST male friends. Former--I know you avoid mingling with the hoi polloi at all costs, HUghBe---Another confirmation that you know very little. I attend 2 denominations of Christianity. When I started attending the first one MOST of the members were at the level of domestic helpers and I had a high-powered job and a graduate degree. Do you understand BOY? The other church is no different and its members are literally barely literate. Get it BOY? Former-- you consider yourself better than your fellow man - HughBe--- My BOY all men are not created equal. I have been blessed more than most but don't blame me for that. Besides I place a PREMIUM on my INTEGRITY a quality that is very deficient on this forum. Former--but this lack of basic language skills is quite concering to "the many" on this forum. HughBe--- I have no doubt that it is "concering" to the legions but it is not to the wise. And BOY, I would be a JACKASS like you if I did not know that you are capable of spelling the word in quotation marks. |
