The fire has been contained to the forest, but will likely not be extinguished for a couple days.

if people would practice defencible space, they wouldn't have to worry as much about fire

We have defensible space and we still worry about fires. Even with our steel roof, we still have trees and shrubs on our property. They just aren't close to the house. With the high winds we've been getting, there is a good chance the fire will hop across roads and even burn up the very short wild grass we have. Nobody wants a black terrian for their property. Although the area that was burned on Ridge Road is actually growing back quite quickly, even without rain.

I couldn't care less about "black terrain". This isn't about how things LOOK. Fire is dangerous and people could die.

Tell it to the code enforcement officers. What a joke we actually pay Roger and Julie to be ineffective.

Even if they issue fines, you know what will happen when they get to court.

Defensible space doesn't make your property fireproof. It makes it fire resistant and easier to save when there is a fire. We all have to be vigilant about our property. With the winds blowing the way they are, even a home in the middle of an acre of concrete could catch fire.
