Mountain lion trapped, killed near Pinos Altos

A mountain lion that may have been the cat that killed and ate part of a Pinos Altos man was captured in a snare trap Wednesday morning and killed.

why do people kill a mountain for killing a human? that is wrong. animal is just hungry and that person happen to live in animal world and he should know there is life and death.so deal with it

Perhaps, next time a wild animal kills a human being, all of you should call NM Game and Fish and give them your phone number and address, then when they locate the animal, it can be brought to your home and you can ask it if it is guilty or innocent. The rest of us can place bets on how long you stick around and say "Nice kitty"!

It is sad that they killed the cat. People are encroching on their territory and if someone is stupid enough to bath and shave on the rocks oh well expect the unexpected. By the way, skin the cat and give it to a homeless shelter...cat meat is delicious. Cooks up kinda like pork. No Joke!!! I've had and it is delicious!!!!

He shouldnt have been killed for being in his own habitat. "wild" is right he was in the "wild" do not go to the "wild" if you do not want to take the risk of a "wild" animal attacking. Thats what happens in the "wild"

I could see if the man was in HIS home bathing and lion went into the mans home and attacked then I think the man has every right to kill lion.

But the man was bathing in the lions home. So I do not think it was right for them to hunt down the lion and kill it.

Lion innocent out looking for lunch.. Very sad this man had to go through that. But when you are in the wild, everyone knows this.... Lions, tiggers and bears...Oh my!

actually, the man was in his own front yard, only about 100 yards from a paved highway, not far from the middle of town. dry conditions are bringing all kinds of critters close to town. i would be worried about letting my small children play outside.

Of course they got the right one or didn't you read the articles? The cat was the same one they had to shoot becuase it was stalking rescuers and had buckshot in it to proove it. Are you people crazy or is it just OK to let any old wild animal kill people indiscriminately. What a cruel bunch of non-humane beings you are. People are first not animals. This lion or these lions becuase there might yet be two, were stalking people for weeks now. The man killed was handicapped and helpless and so are the children in this area. You have no right to second guess anyone.

Pinos Altos has been a community for over 100 years way over. There is no way this man living in his little trailer trying to have a life was encroaching on this cat. Nor were any of the other people it stalked in the last couple weeks. It is not a bit sad the lion is now dead, what is sad is no one bothered to capture it before it killed someone and deal with it more humanely. Why? Because ridiculously uneducated people are upset every time someone is forced to deal with a bad wildlife situation. So now we all suffer animals and humans alike for stupid notions of animal rightists and they are only making bad situations worse. Don't call the victim stupid, he was handicapped no doubt but what ten year old boy doesn't do the same thing at the local creek? What bunch of kids don't have a fort? By the way, don't eat predators they are disease carriers.

Not true at all we are the kind of people who protect neighborhood children after a habituated problem severely bad lion kills a man close to his own doorstep.

OK on that line of thinking Poor Kitty and Showstoppa, any time anyone close to you or perhaps you yourself are murdered or raped or robbed then there is no reason to protect you or anyone around you.
