This is a multi-billion dollar corporation. Look for them to hold on to their stockpiles till the market demand rises. Nature of the beast. The families are always put to the side. Damn shame.

all of bluestones mines are idled and the talk of coal mountian going back in a matter of weeks is simply not true, only reason they still have matiance up there working is to get stuff fixed but its a matter of days when they will be sent home as well until the mines is off idle, which is predicted not to be until after the 1st of the year and that is for every bluestone mine not just one but all.

its doesn't make sense for the company to mine coal they can't sell. if it is already stockpiled it makes even less sense. its sad but worldwide recession, mild winters and utility conversion to gas do not make for good steam coal sales. are there similar trends with met coal? If so I have not heard.

"Boss," you really shouldn't get on here and make such inflammatory statements such as they will be off til after the first of the year at Bluestone. What do you base this on? If it's opinion based, you should say that upfront instead of acting as if you're in 'the know' and we're all in the dark. The men at Bluestone have been told it's a matter of not having a blasting crew and that that they'll be back up next week. WHAT do you know that we don't. Not what do you THINK but what do you know?

Do you have someone working for Bluestone if so they should know it will be a while until work starts up unless they are high up then they will still work

Yes, Miner. My husband works there. You sound a bit more informed than Boss. How do you know this and do you have a timeline?

I'm not tell you anything you shouldn't already know yes blasting was an issue but not exactly all of it, why pay miners when we have no buyers, until after the first of the year, and sit back and think if it was to do with blasting why is all of bluestones mines idled not just eh ones that didn't pay there bills? These men knew it was coming yes we may have been bring but we needing spots to be filled it wasn't that we were doing good, but those spots had to have someone in them the miners knew the coal market was down it w only a matter of time before it hit bluestone the superintendents held off as long they could now weather u accept the facts or not that's ur decision but I'm just telling you from what I was told when I was sent home just because ur a boss doesn't reassure ur still going to be working. Be thankful they got everyone closer to the new year then it being 6 months yes it will be hard but everyone knew it was a matter of time.

I couldn't really understand from your grammar, but you not being involved in the actual "sale" of the coal makes me wonder how you or your superiors could say atleast first of the year. Unless Mechel actually makes no attempt to find new customers, and waits for them to knock on their door. That I would understand. Which job were you at again?
that right
