I have decided it is time to pose a question. Am I the only parent who didn't like their childs LL Photos? My sons was so bad I didn't even order them. Here in Pineville the LL Board voted to have a photographer from Oceana take them because he has cheap prices (and cheap work) and because of a little rain he took LL photos in the Gymnasium! It looks ridiculus! He should have rescheduled!!! And no I am not going to say his name that would not be necessary. But please answer my question "Did you like your childs LL photos and did you order any of them?" And if your going to answer please use your REAL first name so we dont get a bunch of BS comments posted by the same person under twenty different names! That would serve NO purpose whatsover, except to try to cover up poor work in the pictures by the person who took them. Let me know. Come on people STAND UP and have a set and say what you think! And if we get enough parents to stand up maybe we can make the LL board make him come back and RE-DO it for free!
I am very sorry that you are unhappy with the photos.

The purpose of my reply though is to clear something up for you. The Pineville Little League Board DOES NOT select the photographer that takes the pictures. That is, like most things are, left up to each individual team. Usually, your mamager or your "team mom" selects the photographer after discussing the choice with the parents.

The Little League Board has NEVER in the last twelve years made teams use a particular photographer. Each team picks their own. So, while your criticism of the photographer may be valid, your criticism of the Board is off base, and I wanted to make that perfectly clear before misinformed people start complaining about the Little League Board over pictures.

The Little League Board assumes that the parents and coaches will get together and choose the photographer who they think is best.

Again, I am sorry for your experience with the photographer, but please do not blame the Little League because that choice is left up to each team. If you want to "stand up and make" someone do something about the photographer, you need to look to your own team's coaches, parents, team mom or whoever it was that chose your photographer.

That is not to say that the Little League Board does not care. If your coaches or whomever it was that chose the photographer won't help you, then maybe you should mention it to a Board member. The LL Board tries to stay out of individual team's business, but if the TEAM asks for help dealing with the photographer, I am sure the Board won't turn you down so long as the team has tried to deal with the problem themselves first.

Instead of posting a call to arms on Topix, your first step should probably be talking to your team manager about it. If that does not help, talk to a Board member, but don't act like it was the Board's fault because it wasn't. Just ask for help - you're not going to "make" the Board to do anything, but you are very likely to get help by just asking for it.

Again, the Board DOES NOT pick a photographer for team pictures. That choice is left up to each team. I promise you that. I have worked on the Board for twelve or thirteen years now, and we just don't meddle in the team's individual choices like that. Once or twice, a photographer has come to Opening Day and been available for the teams to use if they wanted to, but even then, the teams could pick their own and several did.

The LL Board tries not to interfere with your teams. It is that simple.

The LL Board is not "above this." You seem to want to be a victim somehow ...

I really am sorry that your coaches did not ask the parents' opinions about a photographer. Coaches make mistakes when they fail to involve the parents in decisions like who the photographer is, what kind of team party they want after the season, and so on.

The LL Board just is not going to take autonomy away from the teams. That is not our job. We don't want to force everyone to use "our" photographer. Why on Earth would we do that???? Taking a share of the picture money for the Board's use would just result in a higher cost being passed on to the parents. And as far as a photographer being responsible to the Board, well ... again, the LL Board actually thinks that the coaches and parents are mature enough to handle their own problems most of the time.

If you just want to get on here and complain, the fine ... do that. Otherwise, take my earlier advice. Speak to your coach (and try to be nice). If that does not work, then talk to a Board member. Quite frankly, you seem like you'd rather throw a fit about the problem than try to work on it. If that is too harsh, I am sorry.

Lastly, how do you know that your team (or any team for that matter) chose a photographer based on chumminess???? Did you come by that information the same way that you thought the Board had voted to use a photog from Oceana???? You wrote that in your first post as if it was a fact, when in reality you didn't know what you were talking about.

This is exactly how and why people get all worked up about kids' sports leagues and so on. People get on here and post stuff as if it is fact when they do not really know what they are talking about.

Here is an idea. If you do not like the pictures, take your child to a photographer of your own choice and have pictures made. Either way, you are the one paying, so get what you like. If the issue is that you want a "team picture", then do what fifty parents a year already do, go to a game and ask the coach to let the team pose for a shot at home plate before the game. There is not a coach in the league who will tell you no so long as you ask in advance.

Honestly folks, who would want a Board telling you everything you have to do, who you have to use for pictures, when you can have a team party, what kind of year-end trophies you can give your players, and so on???? Your children are on teams. The teams are supposed to operate independently of one another and the Board to do what the team's adults think is the best thing for their team's kids.

Do you know that you don't have to buy the pictures that are taken? You could have just bought a team picture and took your child somewhere else for the others. I do the same thing for my kids school pics. You weren't forced
to do anything. Why would you want him to do them for free if you don't like his work? Quit bitchin!!

I have been Vice-President of Pineville Little League for the past three years. The main purpose of my position is to help with any problems, large or small and to try to keep things running as smooth as possible. BUT, I cannot help with problems if I don't know about them. And running to your buddy on the board won't help either because they will just turn it over to me anyway. I'm not saying that every problem will be solved in a way that will satisfy everyone, that is just unrealistic and will never happen. When I was told that there was a complaint, I did do some investigating, but I will not go any further until this parent contacts me in person, I will not do anything on this site. The only reason that I am posting this is to just let parents know that I am readily available to speak to about any issues that they may have as a parent, player or team. T-Ball parents should also know that they can speak to the Vice-President of T-Ball, Jeff Lane. I do agree with the person that posted the earlier comments about the board's position on the hiring of photographers, it is up to each team and we let the team's parents and coaches make these decisions among themselves. However, Mr. Lane and myself can help in the event that there is a problem on the team, especially between parents and coaches that has the potential of interfering with the players ability to just play and have fun. So, in closing, if there is a problem, stay off this site and talk to me at the ball field.

Why doesnt the league just pick one person to do them all. Thats stupid to let each individual team pick em. That just leaves you open for stuff just like this!!

It is not stupid. In the last fifteen years, it has worked great and without any appreciable problems. You can't please all the people all the time. Letting the parents of the children pick their own photogs has worked fine.

The guy that Jennifer is complaining about is the guy who several Wyoming County leagues have given all their business to because his prices are great. Would it have been better for the league to have made ALL the teams use this guy - then, we might have problems with every team's pictures.

You need to be careful when you jumop to conclusions without the experience to back it up. And, you need to be more careful about using the term stupid.

"Stupid is as stupid does." - Forrest Gump.

Again, allowing the teams to pick their own photog has worked really well for a decade and a half. Honestly, people need to have a go at fixing their own problems and quit looking to other people to take care of everything.

Excuse me, but what are you referring to by they pulled one at allstars? Your kid didnt get picked or something? The allstars did great last year especially the ones that went to state. Everyone was very proud of them. Jealousy is so ugly which makes you so ugly. Leave the kids alone and be proud of them.

You had kids who didnt even play in one of those finals games. I was there i saw it. the call went all the way to fla. Yes you should be proud of them for going to state but your coach let them win illegally and he was to blame! Its not the kids fault...but imagine how the kid who set the bench the whole game felt. So dont even start with me. In our league EVERY kid plays.

and uhh im not jealous. We have been to wv state baseball tournaments. Before yall i might add but what im tired of (and it aint just pineville) is that certain leagues get by with stuff that no one else would. Logan is another one that always gets their way! I watched logan steal a win several yrs ago by having a kid who didnt play. What pisses me off is its the teams that have ppl in the district that are the ones who have to push these "every kid plays" rules and then they dont have too. Now thats messed up and if it was any other team but yours you'd be just as mad.

I am a Mullens Rebel. Last year, I was part of a group of parents who complained about the kid from Wyco who was playing in Pineville. I am now ashamed of myself. We had a kid in tee ball ourselves who technically should have been playing in Pineville. It is a real shame that we act lkke we do sometimes. Pineville and Mullens go together now to make Wyo East, but there are some people here in Mullens who just don't get it. I get it. Michelle does not get it, for one, and she needs to shut her trap. Do you think that kid who played for Pineville last year will want to get along with the other kids when he gets to high school???? I wouldn't if I was treated the way we treated him. I, for one, apologize to him and his parents.

Stay off this thread if you want to bitch. The thread is about a photographer, not your bitchin' about all stars last year. Geeze - if you are the kind of person who is still upset about a kids' game a year ago, I am probably wasting my time replying to you. It's pretty pathetic that you (being from Mullens and having absolutely nothing to do with the photogrpahers used by our league or our teams) jump on this thread, talk nasty about our coaches, complain about all-stars and so on. All I can say is Thank God you live in Mullens and we don't have to deal with you at our field on a daily basis - don't know if we could stand it.

Incidentally, the kid did not sit the bench the whole game. He played his two innings in the field and was the very next up to bat when the third out was made. You are a simple minded idiot. I don't like you. From the way you post, I doubt that very many people do like you. You suck. You bite! You are the scum of the earth. Keep your idiotic and tiny-minded comments to yourself or raise hell in your own town and your own league - you don't like us down here in Pineville, so we shouldn't have to put up with you. You are a turd. You are a fat, slobby, nose in everyone's business bitch who choses to hate a bunch of people just because they live outside her city limits. What a freakin' sad sack of shit you are. You are a dung sucking pimple of the earth's butt.

You know - most of the time, people from Pineville are just too nice to say these things. We let you call us names, complain about us, whine when you lose and rub it in when you win. We just take it. Well - not any more sister. I'm gonna call it like it is - your 're a bitch.

Well, I might want to comment on this. I'm a district staff person and a member of the PLL and assure you that just because you are a member of M.V. district staff does NOT mean that you get away with things! Our league is not perfect and I might add that NO LEAGUE is perfect. Yes, there was a coach/manager that was ejected during all stars, but let me tell you that T.L. was NOT the only one to be ejected. There was coaches from Omar, Chapmanville and Holden as well. And might I add that the coach from Omar in the tball division during area was ejected and then arrested! In the 9 & 10 divisions, there were coaches ejected in the area tournaments in Gilbert! And in the case of the 11 & 12yr olds, the poster who said that the kid had already played his defensive time but the 3rd out was made before he batted was correct. Had the 3rd out not been made, the next up to bat would have been that particular player. This is just one of the reasons that the rule during tournaments have been changed so that if the 3rd out has been made before the player gets to bat, as long as he has fulfilled his defensive requirements all will be fine. Now, having said that, please know that NO COACH or MANAGER can possibly know AHEAD of time that a "3rd out" will be made before the sub player has a chance to bat. It was a honest thing that happened and because of the situation and going by the rule book (as district staff personnel do) the coach had to be ejected. Keep in mind that it was not becasue he DELIBERATELY DID NOT PLAY THE CHILD OR ANY OTHER REASON. The coach that was ejected took the penalty for HIS TEAM happily and without arguement, so why are you complaining about it? Not even the child's parent complained about it.

I'm really in awe that people are argueing over touraments that happened a year ago. The kids like to win, don't get me wrong, but at the same time, they just like to play and have fun. Try to remember that.

I'd like to use some words that a friend of mine said not too long ago:

The game didnt even go all the innings is why the kid didnt get in the ballgame but was neither the kid or coaches fault. When the game didnt go to the end there wasnt a chance to put the sub in and the coach had to sit out the last game and didnt even get to see his kid play. So dont start this shit about last years team when ya dont know shit. The boys mom and dad didnt blame anyone and gave the team all the support, so I dont see why you are complaining. It's people like you that likes to stir in shit and keep things in an uproar. If it's for the kids then shut up and leave things alone if ya dont know all the facts.

Very well said, District! These people need to take a few lessons from the kids. They loved their coach and when he had to sit out it upset all of them. But it made them wanna win the game even more. When they won the last game to go to state, they all ran across the railroad tracks and hugged their coach and poured water on him. All were very happy. So see "what" unless you know all the facts, take lessons from the little ones for a change.....Be happy......not bitchy!!

The only thing that was pulled in 9-10 was that we weren't going to get cheated out of a win because Mullens sandbagged around and delayed until the rains came. You almost pulled it off, too, but for some reason that ruling just didn't sound right to me, and yes, the answer came all the way from Florida. You people would have felt the same way if the tables had been turned. It's just one example where "District" didn't know what they were talking about, or maybe they did and wanted things to go a different way than the way they were going.

This forum is so frustrating! Little league is for the CHILDREN and NOT the parents! Parents are there for encouragement, not put-downs! Children are supposed to enjoy this experience and learn from victory and defeat.

I have grown up on the baseball field and hate to see parents bashing one another from district to district, team to team... It's not worth it. It only breeds frustrating and creates drama among parents when the focus of the program is the children.

You are right, of course. What you are seeing here is that there is a certain lady (loose term) from Mullens who creates just about as much havoc as she possibly can everytime Pineville and Mullens compete for anything at the jr high or grade school level. She has for years ... And I guess people from Pineville are getting tired of her butt. A very few certain people in Mullens seem to be having a problem letting go of the old rivalry back when Mullens and Pineville were two separate schools. One of them visits the Pineville topix site every now and then and pokes her far too big butt into things she has no business in ... we're all just a little tired of her. That's all. Inside the PLL, there are no real fights between teams or anything. It is really a fun league, and the kids are definitely the priority.

If you notice, this thread was originally about a person unhappy with her child's picture. That is, until the moron from Mullens jumped in and started complaining about last year's all-stars and so on ... We're all just really tired of that. We want them to shut up and mind their own business, stay on their own hometown threads, and so on.
