If musicians and movie stars influence people in thier politics, then isn't that just a reflection of the people they actually influence? Sometimes I would rather they just shut up and sing.

Assuming you are not a politician, how would you take to it if someone told you just to shut up and do whatever it is you get paid to do? Sounds like you don't care much for freedom of speech to me.
The press is always the first thing in danger on the road to dictatorship, be it from the right or the left. Let's be careful what we wish for.

Why would anyone think it was other than the the speaker's own opinion? Should Hannity and Beck be required to say on their programs "this is my opinion only". That's an absurd idea.
I can tell you why Denzel Washington won't get recognition form any one....(maybe Fox)....he is a black Republican. Look it up for yourself. I saw it a long time ago.

I surely didn't mean to sound as though I am against freedom of speech. I just meant that for me, entertainment and politics do not mix. I, as I am sure many enjoy the entertainers as a way of escapism. They are surely entitled to thier opinions, but when they voice them, and they go against mine, it kind of ruins the "fantasy" aspect of it for me. If they voiced thier opinions first, then would they be where they are at today? Maybe it is a self-centered opinion, but am I in the minority?

Now that's a fair statement. But, once you begin to look closely at the personal lives (or, political views) of your artistic icons you could probably find reasons not to watch, read or listen to any of them. I refuse to curtail my enjoyment of the finer things or shrink my world over politics.

Ahhhh, yes, but Penn is a wonderful actor and yes a prime example of someone who rubs the right the wrong way. And, don't think that Hollywood doesn't punish him for it, they do. Actors that controversial do not fill theatres, and in the end its all about money. Gosh how many times have I had to tell you guys that? St. Paul knew it very well.

There are a lot of wonderful actors, Clint Eastwood, JoN Voight, that have political differences from Hollywood, it has long been established that the two of them, and others were diehard Republicans. Because they are wonderful actors, they still get starring roles. Sean Penn, Alec Baldwin, and others, I assume they must have just lost the ability to be wonderful actors.

He's not that "wonderful an actor":)..He rubs "right" the wrong way, because he is always wrong:)... I don't think HE even believes the nonsense that comes out of his own mouth.. Possibly a publicity stunt, or a way to keep his ego built up by being being controversial, which in turn keeps the lime light focused on himself..What's the saying?..."Bad publicity is better than no publicity."

These are two good examples of actors whose politics do not get in my way of enjoying their work. And, then there's Ted Nugent, don't care for his music or his politics, but then we are talking about a deranged man, so maybe he doesn't count.

Uncle Ted! He is a great chef too! Fantastic guitar player and pretty sharp when it comes to "our" civil liberties. When I hear people say he is deranged, I know he has gotten his point across.

An escerpt from the article about Chuck Norris and his wife Gena visiting the Brooke Army Medical Center in Ft. Sam Houston, TX., The article also
has Mr. and Mrs. Norris visiting West Point and having fun with the Cadets.

http://www.wnd.com/index.php...

Two years earlier, we visited Brooke Army Medical Center and recalled meeting a young soldier
by the name of David who had been just flown in from Iraq and was in ICU suffering from burns
that covered more than 90 percent of his body. Now, two years later, David came walking down
the hospital corridor to greet us. We were overjoyed to see him again, and we could tell that
he felt the same of us, though his gravely burned head and face was not able to muster even a
smile. We again shared some choice, heartfelt moments with David. I couldn't help but say to
him, "David, you are absolutely one of the toughest soldiers I have ever met." Even then, he
tried to smile as he quipped, "Tougher than Chuck Norris?" "Yes," I replied. "You're much, much
tougher than me!"

Do you remember 1987......

Thought you

might be interested in this forgotten bit of

information.........

It was 1987! At a lecture the other day they were
playing an old news video of
Lt.Col. Oliver North testifying at the Iran-Contra
hearings during the Reagan
Administration.
There was Ollie in front of God and country getting the
third degree, but what he said was stunning!
He was being drilled by a
senator,

'Did you not recently spend close to
$60,000 for a home security system?'

Ollie replied,'Yes, I did, Sir.'

The senator
continued, trying to get a laugh out of the
audience,'Isn't that just a little
excessive?'

'No, sir,' continued Ollie.

'No? And why not?' the
senator asked.

'Because the lives of my family and I were
threatened, sir.'

'Threatened? By whom?' the senator
questioned.

'By a terrorist, sir' Ollie answered.

'Terrorist? What terrorist could
possibly scare you that much?'

'His name is Osama bin Laden, sir' Ollie
replied.

At this point the senator tried to repeat the name,
but couldn't pronounce it, which most people back then probably couldn't. A couple
of people laughed at the attempt. Then the senator continued..Why are you so afraid of this man?' the senator asked.

'Because, sir, he is the most
evil person alive that I know of', Ollie answered.

'And what do you recommend we do about him?' asked the senator.

'Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend that an assassin team be formed to
eliminate him and his men from the face of the
earth.'

The senator disagreed with this approach, and that was all that was shown of the clip.

By the way, that senator was Al Gore!

Also:

Terrorist
pilot Mohammad Atta blew up a bus in
Israel in 1986. The Israelis captured, tried and
imprisoned him. As part of the
Oslo agreement with the Palestinians in 1993,
Israel had to agree to release
so-called 'political prisoners.'

However, the Israelis would not release
any with blood on their hands. The American
President at the time, Bill Clinton,
and his Secretary of State, Warren Christopher,
'insisted' that all prisoners be
released.

Thus Mohammad Atta was freed and eventually thanked us by
flying an airplane into Tower One of the
World Trade Center . This was reported
by many of the American TV networks at the time
that the terrorists were first identified.

This is ludicrous, you had best check your facts.
In 1987 we were still supplying future Al Queda fighters and terrorists, including Bin Laden with arms to resist the Soviets in Afghanistan. My gosh, where does this stuff come from?
Also, don't forget why Ollie North was testifying before Congress. HE was defending the illegal deal made with Iran, our sworn enemy, to provide them with arms for hostages so they could fight Iraq. Friends today, foes tomorrow, hypocrites forever.
This is all typical of the big picture which is that greed leads to sleeping with devils, and the source of it is oil and the root of it is love of money.
And, Oliver North should have went to jail.

"This one is false (I almost used a different colloquial expression for false here)... and has been for six plus years. This kind of onerous, odoriferous, opportunistic, exploitative, manipulative, slime is one of the main reasons I am completely and irrevocably done with the Republican party and their willful re- engineering of truth (I never seem to get these sorts of fake e-mails from anyone on the other side of the aisle). As Snopes and plenty of other fact checking sites declares, the scene this e-mail depicts NEVER happened:

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Taurus

If your goals are fairly modest in the short term, they are achievable and you're likely to get some praise for achievements along the way. If you aim too high too quickly, others might not take you seriously or think you're being uppity and you could come unstuck. It's all a question of attitude and approach. There are contradictory influences over the next ten days but there could also be good luck coming your way.
