Now to your point. Yes. Taxation without representation is a crime. It is how and why America started over 200 years ago. Taxing the wealthy, or well off, "just a little more" is robbery because you are taking from someone who earned it or manages their wealth well only to hand it over to someone who hasn't. Entitlements and handouts are single handedly bankrupting America because there is no return on investment. Investing in our military and the like is a return on investment because it is tangible and materials can be resold with depreciation factored in. How do you depreciate a human on unemployment for 99 weeks or welfare? You can't. There is no value.
So, again, entitlement programs like welfare and food stamps wic and so on, yes, help some short term for humanitarian reasons, but those humanitarian reasons only go so far when it comes to OTHER PEOPLES MONEY. Which is what taxes are. OTHER PEOPLES MONEY. How can stand any where in America and act as if those kicking into the pot have no leg to stand on or not in any position to question how their money is being spent? Again, shows your lack of experience in business. Even you have a right to question how your portion is being spent. But you believe in a different ideology that is a "sugar sprinkles and unicorn's" utopia fairy tale where everyone gets along and their is no conflict.
The rest of us will come visit you when we need a break from reality.
So just what is the return on unnecessary war? When you have families that have been torn apart by the loss of loved ones. When you have those who have fought only to return mamed, disabled and with mental disorders. From war to welfare. How do you depreciate? Lets just keep investing in our military and waging war. We have tangilbe returns, they're called Veterans.

I've seen a couple of people correct some of you on this and yet you chronically prefer to endorse fantasy over reality just as you do in real life.
You look idiotic; not patriotic. No. There is no way you can bully your way on this one either. Wrong is wrong. What is so damn hard for you people to comprehend about that? Sorry. At first, such devoted ignorance delivered with such earnest gusto was snicker-worthy. Hey Itchy, would you agree that technology has changed language today. That different writing styles have become more acceptable, except in "formal" writing. Today people find it a waste of time to use "you" and now use "u". Your tirade about grammar on "here" tends to a little "outdated" for a on-line forum. It is a sad, that ANYONE, would "go abroad" and "have" to explain the grammar on a forum. I would think there would be better topics to discuss. I, myself, have been to several countries, never have I had to "explain" the grammar on Topix.

War is good for the bottom line of logistics companies like KBR and security companies like the former Blackwater with no bid contracts awarded through the efforts of corrupt congressmen. Most pugnacious of our leadership are the republikan chicken hawks who haven't served or who got "appointments " (like
Dubya) to the Air Guard which then couldn't be deployed. Besides never mentioning the 100,000 + disabled vets returning from this fiasco and the 4000+ dead, republikans fail to mention the 10 trillion dollars debt this gave the USA. Now they pretend that "Obama" spent the money and whine about having to raise taxes to pay it back.

OK....Let's try this again. Oh never mind. Suffice it to say this: There is no way on God's green earth you will ever compel me to accept 'Here! Here! as acceptable. It's not the evolution of the English language. It's spelling something incorrectly and then demanding it isn't. This isn't a debate regarding 'theatre vs. theater'.'Hear! Hear!''is synonymous to 'Listen to me! Listen to me!' or 'Hear me! Hear me!'. How does 'Here! Here!' translate to the same meaning?'My house! My house!'?'Starbucks! Starbucks!'?

The complaints among many here and 'there' are about the deliberate stupidity adopted by 'youse' in order to show solidarity with the other stupid people in America. You may as well argue that 'c-a-t' spells 'dog' but by all means? Do argue the point when you are dead wrong as long as others of your mindset agree to all agree to be dead wrong.

I certainly can appreciate the fact that you wish everyone "here" to use perfect and proper english. However few subjects have garnered more study and less agreement than that of the language I will call "mountain dialect". The Appalachian dialect has been termed everything from Elizabethian tongue to "hillbilly-speak." More often than not, it has been disparaged and ridiculed as a primitive language produced by ignorance rather than recognized and appreciated as a perfected one primarily rooted in the Anglo-Saxon-Celtic heritage.

Yes we speak the kind of English that Shakespeare, Marlowe, Spenser, Chaucer, Lovelace, and Layomon spoke before us, to which we have added wit, exaggeration, humor, and a twist of the tongue that today is purt nigh gone.

Allen, that is a really great post. You and I have no disagreement regarding any of the points you were making whatsoever. I'm a HUGE fan of dialectal language development, regionally, culturally and historically so as to better reproduce conversation or dialogue in a literary text authentically. I'm so damn fascinated by this stuff that I even picked up a couple of degrees in it many moons ago.

Much of this 'debate' began with Silvercorks making numerous complaints claiming my vernacular writing style is Ebonics, gayenese, libralese, socialist-ese etc. accompanied by demands that I 'speak English' on this forum. It proceeded to descend into an ersatz quasi-academic discussion from there when I was only doing what you suggested; using the beauty of lots of linguistic forms common in America to make my points. I study them because I love to. I use them when I write because I love to do that too.

I'm not backing off my claim. If we are all discussing the validity of 'Hear!' Hear!' vs.'Here! Here!' within the context of it's grammatical root and proper English spelling? I think that's a narrow enough topic to be subject to a 'right or wrong' answer.

Ahm jest shuwah all y'all kin get jiggy wid it? Rahhht?

Tsk. No. "Hear! Hear!" has a specific meaning as well as a history to go with it; you can find that exact phrase in Quotable Quotes. It is hardly the same as saying 'Here is your paycheck' or,'Here, take a tissue.' for crying out loud! When you misspell it as 'Here Here!' to convey the implication inherent in the properly spelled phrase? You are just misspelling it.
