I'm from Alexandria, but my family never made it to the pecan festival as far as I can remember. When was the last time that you were in Colfax? Its been several years since I've been back to Louisiana.

I grew up in Colfax. The La. Pecan Festival was good for the town. I escorted one of the queens when the 1st festival started. Seems like Fess Parker was the Grand Marshal but I may be wrong.

But I do recall Boss Hogg from Dukes of Hazzard being there once. My Father said Boss Hogg was so drunk riding the horse they were afraid he was going to fall off.

It was all fun.

Colfax is a town of about 1800 people. I went to Colfax Schools grade 1-12. We had a great basketball team in 1968 and were winning against Bolton, Menard, Pineville, Tioga.

Won the Tioga Tournament that year too. Great feeling. I remember playing Bolton @ PromptSuccor's Gymnasium and the score was Colfax 51 & Bolton 50. I scored 17 points in that game. Never will forget it.

Colfax had a lot of good people there. Farmers, store owners, two car dealerships, and times were so innocent we never even locked doors on homes @ night.

We used to walk the roads at night w/o any fear of anything. There was nothing to be afraid of.

The town has changed. My Mother still live there along with two of my sisters.

Haven't been to the festival since about 1980.

Boss Hog road in the back of that hideous white convertible with the cow horns on the grill!! That was in the 80's when Dukes of Hazard was still popular!
