There is a case currently in trial at the Federal Courthouse in Alexandria Louisiana before Judge Drell. The case is James Gregory Bennett vs Pineville Police Department. Mr Bennett was arrested in Pineville for public intoxication in April 2006. He was brutalized and tasered multiple times by the officers involved. I have heard nothing in the local media about this and it concerns me. As with most things the government does in Louisiana, they are trying to sweep this one under the rug. I would hope that local news agencies would report about such matters.
This is getting out of hand with all of these yahoo cowboy cops using excessive force against the citizens. Most cases, like this one, is never heard about. It is becoming the norm, acceptable, and common and that is wrong. People are being killed and injured perminately by these things.

Where in the hell have you been? Did you ever hear of the case tried in Winn Parish against a Winnfield P.D. officer that tazed one and he died? Jury found him not guilty and he had two great lawyers. Ain't nothing got swept under the rug. THe public has less and less respect for laws and less for the officers. If they would stay out of trouble and comply with the cops' directions they would not get to meet "sparky."MYOB

Yes "Sparky", I have heard of the case in Winn and many others. You are talking out of your @$$ because you don't know what happened. The plaintiff was doing nothing wrong and has been harrassed by the same officers in the past for his sexual orientation. And yes, the public has less respect for the law because of their actions. The one officer involved has already shot and killed a man and was forced to resign from another police dept. He is under investigation from this incident already.
If you think that things are not swept under the rug, you haven't a clue about what's really happening around you.
Sounds like your a cop yourself and expect everyone to respect and fear you because you have a little badge and a gun. Respect has to be earned and cops think they can demand it. If you have nothing to contribute, zip it.

first off dee is right. Cops think because they got a gun and a badge they should be respected and feared. WRONG! they harass innocent people over bullcrap. Yes there are a few good cops around but 98% of them are only cops because there to dumb or lazy to do anything else. What ever happened to "To Protect and Serve"???? They ain't here to protect us.

I was stopped the other night for having my fog lights on. I'm not saying it's not a law but I'm sitting at a red light and dumb cop spins his car around like I just stole his favorite shirt. He attempted to search my vehicle but I asked on what grounds. Really now there are far worst things goin on than my fog lights on.

This situation is a horror. It is true this person was doing nothing wrong, was stranded, walking home, plead for help with a ride home. This victim was severely damaged first, by being physically slammed to the concrete, gashed across face, smashed nose, which required emergency surgery, left with chronic spinal damage, operation for bilateral hernia, permanent limp in his walk. The taser involved as evidence was even "lost" by the police dept. No records, No cameras, only made up stories to incriminate the victim further. This is serious. Someone must listen and speak up. This victim is not a police hater. His late father, and two closest uncles have given years of their lives to law enforcementand security, and are horrified at this abuse. These PPD cops and lawyer even tried to use fear of AIDS as a justification for excessive abuse.(tho victim was HIVneg, and longtime advocate against unsafe sex)... Someone needs to listen.
