PINEVILLE — A long-time teacher at Bell County High School was arrested on Monday morning by the Middlesboro Police Department (MPD).

Thomas Allen Baker, 46, of Cumberland Gap, Tenn. was charged with criminal trespassing third degree, disorderly conduct second degree, and resisting arrest.

He was arrested by MPD Lieutenant David Buis. Buis was not available for comment on the matter Tuesday.

Baker has been a math teacher at BCHS for 24 years, according to Principal Jeff Saylor, who deferred further comment to Superintendent George Thompson.

“We are immediately looking at board policy and consulting with our board attorney,” said Thompson.“We certainly do take this very seriously.”

Thompson said that Baker was still employed at the high school, but was not present at school on Tuesday.

Thompson said they were still “sorting through details” on the matter and would take action in accordance with the board’s personnel policy.
