None of the Brock bunch starting threads this time? How is it we can afford two JE's but not one fire station? Guess those promises meant nothing.

Why is the Fiscal Court being sued? and by whom?
We, the Bell County Tax Payers, can afford ALL the fire stations to be open. If only we had the right people who are honest and not thinking they OWN the BCVFD. I've wondered this for quite some time. How much money did the current people on the BCVFD pay for this department? When you own something you have to pay for it.
I'm not a Brock, I'm just an average, working citizen in Bell County. And if 1 person on the BCVFD board can at least be honest and tell us why they think they OWN the BCVFD it would be appreciated. Until then they, the BCVFD, look like a bunch of crooks to the tax payers of Bell County.

Good question. Who paid for the property or give the property to the fire department years ago? Then that is who the property should go to. If it was an individual then the property should go back to that person or if it was the taxpayers money that paid for this property then any money from that should go back to the taxpayer.

Well at least both the JE's show up most of the time, unlike those keystone firemen at the VFD. I'm still confused about this whole damn mess anyways. The fiscal court has stated multiple times on the tv and in the newspaper that they would pay all the bills and reimburse for legit expenses (no cookouts or pig roast), when they reopened the closed stations and covered the WHOLE county, not just a small area where they live. I have talked with my insurance and they said if my rate went up due to no fire protection, that I would not be billed for the coverage on my policy. So I guess nobody gets the money. I don't understand what that moron in charge of the VFD is wanting, a blank check?

A blank check by the tax payers is exactly what they want....I am glad the JE is putting a stop to the wasteful spending of the BCVFD.

You're almost right. The tax money fiscal court is taking needs to go back to the people who paid it - all of it. Fiscal court hasn't done one thing to provide fire protection even after telling everyone on camera that would be done. Who lied there? The law determines how all this is handled and it doesn't say money the county donated to the nonprofit corporation goes back to county. If it worked that way, Albey would have taken over a long time ago. Thinking "should" don't get it. Now, if there is a problem on how things were done 30 years ago, Albey needs to talk to the family on that.

What does that second JE do that we don't already pay the first JE to handle? All the counties around us get by with one. Maybe we got a lot of extra money to throw around. I thought Brock was a friend of coal. So why didn't he hire an unemployed coal miner? That other fellow already had a job, didn't he? Seems like most of his time is spent riding around with Colby. I guess they got a secret plan to put all the miners back to work. Maybe Colby will start burning coal at the Off-Track building.

Your almost right too. The BCVFD should do the right thing. They DO NOT own the property, I don't care what they say, it belongs to either the tax payers or the people that donated that land. The BCVFD (current) board did NOT pay anything for this land or buildings but they act like they own them.
The money that the fiscal court is getting for the fire protection should be given back to the tax payer or another fire department opened. We have the BCVFD board and the fiscal court butting heads over something that is really an easy fix, its just we are putting the decision into a judges hands that he or she can take there time to decide.

I think there is something funny going on with the BCVFD, i think the FBI or someone should come here and investicat the VFD. I can not beleave the bells they have sent to people. anywhere between 1000 to 5000 darlars. and people have paid 60.00 darlars to vfd for service. and they did not have to.they need to clean house with everyone of them and start over.they never paid for anything. the fire houses and equ came from donations from the people of bell co.mr.brock has offerd everything he can to help theme, but they refuse it.i no he & the court needs recepts for there spending they refused that, that tells me SOMETHING FUNNY.

You just said what's already been said about giving the collected money back to the people. Never happen. Been almost a year waiting that "new" department. Never happen.

The LAW says who owns what. And the law isn't the way Albey told it. Have him unseal all these court records and hand'em out at the next meeting. Maybe seeing it in black and white will do the trick.

Yep, your a dumbass. The LAW says who owns that? No in reality WE(the taxpayers) know who owns that. WE DO, we paid for it or donated land for that. It belongs to ALL the citizens of Bell County. Not a few people that sits on a board. So quit pointing at yourself in the chest and saying "we own that"..........As Obama says about things.......YOU DON'T OWN THAT, YOU DID NOT BUILD THAT.

This is the greatest post of all time. The first sentence alone deserves to be pointed out as hilarious, but then adopting the Obama quote to support your position was just icing on the cake. And the reiterated closing sentence was the perfect symmetrical ending to this masterpiece. Kudos, my friend.

You can get that fbi number right out of the phone book. I'll get the cia number if you want it. Call tomorrow morning and let us know what they said. You ain't got a hair on your chest if you don't.

You and brock together won't be cleaning any house unless its your own. Keep up this talk about what you own and see where it goes. Exactly where its got brock - nowhere. He's already lost votes from people that voted for him before but never will again. Getting elected doesn't mean you can get by with lying to the public and that's just what he's been doing. Then he tries to hide it by getting the court to seal records.

Let's see what he does with that Bell Whitley mess he got started. Looks like some of his people involved so it don't look good on him running the board and all. When you claim people own the fire department because they donated money, are you sure that's how it works? Cause those Texas people donated about $10000 to Brock. Guess that would mean they own him too. You might not like that but its public record. Let's keep this going cause it'll get worse before it gets better.

Are you suggesting then that to just sit on a board then you own something? Thats not how it works either. The BCVFD isn't a company, its a non-profit organization.....NON-PROFIT. Thats the key word there. Let the BCVFD auction off or sale all the equipment and where will that money go?

That's a good question but you could have looked up the answer yourself. Its all available online so the public doesn't need to take anybody's word. Check the Secretary of State and you'll find its a CORPORATION. That's your key word. Plus, its a special type of corporation called NONPROFIT. The way to own a corporation is to own its stock. Under Kentucky law, nonprofits are not allowed to issue stock. As a technical matter of law, NOBODY owns a nonprofit. It is controlled by its board of directors and operated by its officers and employees - so as a practical matter, they "own" it but it can't be bought and sold like a regular corporation. Brock can't sell Bell-Whitley, either. And you can't buy either one no matter how many donations you make. Brock knows that so why tell the public a different story to get them riled up?
Oh, and you can't just decide to walk in and take over, either. I believe Brock will back me up on that.

The assets are owned by the corporation. As has happened many times over 30+ years, the directors have bought and sold assets in the course of running the operation. Equipment does wear out. County does the same thing. Whatever funds are received from asset sales belong to the corporation and must be retained as such. Its a liquid asset. If a nonprofit wants to dispose of an asset - like an old truck - it can make a donation to another nonprofit. That's legal. And that's a brief rundown of how it works.

Now, how many people think the taxpayers own the fire department?
nope

Brock didn't "get" the court to seal the records moron. A judge does that.

How about the county return the fire tax and the BCVFD return all the money eagerly took from the fiscal court--fire tax money, from their coffers. Bet they won't.

The BCVFD: oh yeah will provide fire protection for the county if you pay the bills.

The Fiscal Court: sure, we just ask you submit bills in a timely manner with documentation and that the said bills be related to protecting the citizens of the county. In that case we will collect a fire tax from the county citizens to pay for these services.

The citizens pay the taxes, the fiscal court collects it, the BCVFD eagerly accepts the funds and then closes the fire stations.

RESULT: we paid the taxes and the fiscal court and worse the BCVFD reneged on their obligations.
