The City is already strained. If this were true, the city could not withstand all the law suits. The only people who can be replaced are the Chiefs. The catch is; If for example, the Chief of Police is replaced by someone in the same police department, the the opening created by the person moving up would be offered first to the former Chief. That is the law. Now, if a department chief is replaced by someone outside the city government, then no other job openings will be available, and the former chief will not have any other job choices in that department.

KRS statute doesn't allow for police officers or police chiefs to be fired or demoted because of politics....."No member of the police or fire departments shall be removed or discharged or reduced in grade or pay for any political partisan opinion. The appointment and continuance upon the police and fire departments shall depend solely upon the ability and willingness of a person to comply with the rules of the said departments and to perform the duties of said departments. No appointment to or continuance as a member of a police or fire department shall be as a reward for political activity nor be obtained by political services or contributions to campaign funds."

This is the dumbest thing I have ever read.

You quoted it: "Because of politics". There are hundreds of ways to fire or demote other than politics. How about the other one you quoted? "Shall depend solely upon the ability and willingness, etc." Many ways, many ways.

Don't be fooled by low-lifes trying to sling mud and tell lies wallsendvoter. Mrs. Rader or Mrs. Anderson neither one wants to see this election turn bad after months of a clean run campaign. Both of them are good ladies and would make our city proud if they are in charge. One is a school teacher and one has been a nurse. Neither one of them are bad people. These lies are just wrong and everybody knows who is doing this.

hey stupid, she can't fire nobody at the water company, the mayor has NOTHING to do with their hiring or firing, I doubt she would fire any police officer, lucky to have any working there (although the lard a$$ deadbeat chief needs to be demoted to meter man). You some inbred check drawing moron that don't know whats going on in your own home?

This is a dead issue. It worked fine when Bruce Hendrickson was mayor. Diana will work out times to be available to city staff and the public if she is elected.

I know Dr. Dubin. He has worked on fathers foot. He is a good guy. He is running for Mayor of harrogate. If he wins, I don't think he is gonna quit being a doctor. Most people from the public don't and shouldn't expect or demand to see the boss whenever they get an itch. They usually call and set up a time to meet. As far as the staff goes, they dam& sure don't tell the Mayor when and where to meet.

I can remember sherwin running around yelling about a senior citizen center for years. Her heart was in the right place but had no idea how to do anything but talk. It don't matter how many meetings you went to, I don't think you heard that sherwin got it done, because she didn't. The school owned the building and bob madon kept trying to strong arm them into giving it to the city but it didn't work. Hendrickson negotiated the deal with the school, the city got the building and the senior citizen center was built. And YES, I saw Hendrickson out quite often with the police in town. Maybe you were always in Corbin is the reason you never saw him out. The only thing rader ever did was a lot of talk and complaining, never any action. Just look at this summer, a simple problem at the pool and took them over half the summer to fix it when it should have taken a week at most. Sherwin is all talk, NO action. If you want Pineville to continue to dry up then put rader back in and you won't have to worry about it.

It is simple. Go to City Hall, ask for the records. Madon never could agree with White on having the City purchase the building(presently Sr. Citizens). Ask White. Hendrickson and White made the agreement work for the city and the school. The Senior Citizens(buyers) got their building while the school(sellers) got their money for the planned gymnasium. Mayor Rader did do a lot of planning with the Sr. Citizens on the development of the Senior's building. Hendrickson did the same with the Bell-Whitley Bldng, ask Peggy Capps. He met with the Bell-Whitley executive board and promised complete cooperation and any financing the city could come up with to keep B/W and the jobs there. Hendrickson did the same support work with the New addition to the Pineville Library.
Ask Ron Day. Don't make up stuff, just check the records. One of the biggest conspiracies involves the Hotel Project. Hendrickson had everything done and done. Legal reps from the city, legal reps from Governor Fletcher's office, and legal reps for the developer. Representatives from Hal Rogers office, and Representative from Senator McConnell's office were there. But, low and behold, after the election, and Bob came back, things started slowing down, finally to a complete halt. Just check the records. P.S. During the groundbreaking for the new Bell-Whitley bldng, Hendrickson, Raymond Woods, and Bill Bunch got the committment from Hal Rogers for the new sewer and street projects. Just ask, don't make up stuff.

There was never any money changed hands. The school agreed to give the city the building for the Sr. Citizens Center and the school got the fields in Newtown for the baseball, softball and football teams. It was a trade off. It worked out good for both sides. The city couldn't keep up the fields and the school didn't need the building,so everybody won. Sherwin can have credit for the planning like you said, she did a lot of that, but likewise, Diana Anderson helped get the money through grants to build it. There is credit for everybody. But most of all for Hendrickson working with the school board to make it work.

Seriously folk.....if you want to check records fine but at least do it in the right place. The senior citizen building had a CDBG grant written for it. Sherwin and Bob did all the preliminary work on it before Bob left office. That came through the Cumberland Valley Ad Office. They wrote AND administered the grant. It came through while Mr Hendrickson was in office and he cut the ribbon. I can assure you that anderson had absolutely NOTHING to do with that in any shape, form or fashion. Bertha Partin from the ad administered the grant. Everone banded together to keep Bell Whitley here. The city did allow use of their coal severance money as well as blacktop the parking lot. Sherwin has volunteered her time for the Seniors for years and still does. She also has given free admission to the pool and splaspad ever since she's been mayor. Yes it was torn up a while but it was free and she finally got it fixed. She has got grant money galore this year for the city, especially for the flood wall, which was in disrepair when she took office. One more thing, the school did get paid for the senior building out of the cdbg grant. The record keeper can check that also. Look around or check allll those records and see which one has ever did any volunteering, she's heads above the rest. Sherwin has for years volunteed. she was woman of the year once for this. Shes volunteering tonight at the haunted house. She has also recieved more grants this year than i can remember the city getting. I think its time to reconize this fact by doing YOUR record check. You will NOT prove me wrong on this one!

She has had all this time to volunteer because she is married to a doctor and hasn't had to work since they got married!! She never had to work hard to support her family so of course she could volunteer everywhere, why couldn't she, she had nothing else to do with her time. Also I think most of her "grants" that she got were just grant money that was out there and you just had to apply for it, I may be wrong but which grants has she gotten that only like 5 out of 5,000 people who applied for it will get it?

Truth Keeper needs more truth. The school recieved payment for their building. That is what White and Madon could never agree on. Hendrickson came in and got the deal done. Fianlly, after that, the city leased the building to the seniors to begin work.
If the Senior Citizens already had the money, they could have purchased the building themselves. We are wasting time here if you don't check the records. The records of every city council meeting are kept at City Hall. Just go there and read for yourselves. Why would the Senior Citizens have needed the City if they already had funds to purchase the building. Why didn't they just purchase the property and forget about the City?
The Senior Citizens wanted the city government to
watch over everythin, so the grant money was handled by the City. After completion, the City
deeded the building to the Senior Citizens.
As for the practice fields in Newtown? The city deeded those to the school because the school was always calling city workers to come over and cut, clean, wash, plumb, and anything else you could imagine. The lease specified all that. But it just was not fair. So it was decided that the school
would be the owner as long as they did not try to sell it or prevent the public from using
it. So obviously, no one is going to go check the records, but it is all written down and protected.
