So how much did the town have to pay those two detail officers for their role in locating and arresting Mr Hill ? Ah thats right, they didn't have to pay a dime because the town was recieving extra protection and not paying the detail officers ... Extra officers without extra pay sounds pretty good to me Deval ...

Detail police officers doing police work?? I read more and more stories about detail officers making arrests lately. Originally, I was in favor of flagmen, however, I bet this gentleman must be happy for these officers working near his home. I am starting to lean toward the police.

If that 60 year old man was your father or grandfather, I am sure you would all agree that it does not matter if those police were on a detail or not, all that matters is that this man is alive and the @## who did this was caught. Its all good to me.

I feel the same way Proud Lion, I bet that man was mighty grateful that those officers were working near his home, who knows what might have happened otherwise? It seems like home invasion crimes are on the rise and it's scary to me, I live in a pretty isolated area, which is nice for the quiet and privacy but then on the flipside it helps criminals rob you and get away before police can ever arrive.

Why don't u people mind ur business mr hill is a good person when he's not on drugs he's got a bad addiction he's not a murderer he would never have hurt that man maybe the detailers should be lookin for the people that are out there sellin these drugss to kids and providingg the drugs...maybe they should focuse on the suppliers more thann pullin people overr and detailing...what would you do if ur child was a drug addict have some sympathy for both sides of the story...I am not sayin it was right wat he did but I am sayin that mr hill can be a good person if he got help with his addictions

Jeffrey Dahmer was a hell of a guy when he wasn't eating people. So Billerica Resident, what would Mr "he wouldn't have hurt a fly, someone else got him hooked" Hill have done with that gun if the homeowner had refused to have given him any money? Would he have just said "OK I'll try a different house" or would he have actually used the weapon he was holding to get the money he needed for his next fix. I'm thinking option B was more plausible. Next time I hope he picks a house that the owner has a safe with cash and a cocked and locked Baretta 9mm in it.

It was very lucky that the police were so close. But more often they are not because they cannot be everywhere we need them all the time. People should have the right to defend their homes and not have to run out the back door or jump out a window. This guy could have been killed if he did one thing wrong. If you do not know who it is, do not answer. If you must, have a weapon ready just in case.

Hopefully his addictions cost him his life, cause obviously no one in his life gives a rats a** about him. Don't blame his addictions for his stupidity; their is plenty of help for these individuals out there. He's just too god damn stupid to get it.

This type of crime needs a strong penalty, at least 20 years in jail just for the intrusion. Americans MUST NOT have to be in fear in their homes and these brazin people who enter a persons home with intent of causing fear or injury must be jailed.

Then you would read about the owner being arrested with this being Massachusetts.

All his precious friends in Billerica can visit him.
The sad part is, Billerica has a real problem with young people in their 20's having heroin and OxyContin addictions. It's a real problem that the town doesn't want to admit- but I can see crimes like these going up as the drug problem in town continues to get worse.
