I believe the Lake needs to be taken care of by the people of Red Lake, this place is not just water and fish, it is a way of life. There is an element of Spirituality, and the Sacredness of this Lake needs to be in the hands of the People! Hasnt enogh been stripped from the People? The state of Mn needs to back off,way off!!

I am in complete agreement the Lake needs to remain in the hands of the tribe, but what does this comment mean? "Quit punishing yourselves"? I mean no disrespect, just cant put a handle on what you mean by this??

Thinking that one individual class of people have more born given rights than any other class of people is insane. I don't blame the native american people but the goverment of the United States for keeping the native people hostage to their individual rights. Once all people are treated equal under the law, then envy and prejudice willnot prevail. The land, the waters, and the air we breath should be under control of the spirit not the control of a idea that holds no merit.

You cannot start taking the law into your own hands and claimimg someone crossed an invisible line in the water and take their property. This is not right, this is robbery. Neither side wants to see vigelante justice in and around Red lake.

It is statements like this that cause racial tensions, and b4 you go off,I am Native so don't go there. We all need to treat everyone with dignity and respect. If we don't we are going against what the Creator wants us to do. There is only one Creator,ONE not one for each Race, If there is more than one who looks after the Spirit of mixed blood people. The Creator made all people and he does not make mistakes nor does he create anything inferior. At this point in the days of Cleansing we should check ourselves and not build partions, hate and anger. Pray for this world, and Pray for all people.Remember your Traditions!

the correct term is you. In my native language there is no such thing as you's.The Creator put you in aTribe why go looking for another gang to talk like. Have more pride in OUR Ancestors!! I do not allow my Sons to speak that kind of language. What Culture are you? Native or African American.

Maybe you better ask somebody! My people never thought of owning any part of Mother Earth, now The People fight over land and Lakes, and The Four Leggeds, and those that fly and swim. Get in touch with your heritage, and what your culture is about, Your Spirit seems sick!!Better see a Medicine Man!!

Actually if your Native to this area your People had nothing to do with Thanksgiving. Do you really believe it went like that?! Yes our Ancestors were put on Reservations, but now we don't need to stay there. Expand youself, try not to wallow in bitterness, it does you no good.

I think that the government should back off and so should the people that are trying to take from the Native Americans. There is anough "White Man lakes for them to fish on" but the fish and the lake is big and they want as they always have for the Native people to feel small. Taking the lake, and the peoples rights away is just another way for them to feel that they have won the war once again over the people.

Being a Native person myself I feel bad that this kind of mentality is still clinging in peoples minds. All white people do not feel the need to conquer Native peoples and their lands, lakes etc.Not all white people wish to make Natives feel small. My Prayer for all people is that they could quit all stereotypical thinking. Not all Natives are drunks and lazt and not all white people are takers of the fat. Don't allow such small thinking to fog your mind.

to add to whatI said, the Lake needs the people.the Native people,as the Lake has always been their way of life. It takes care of the People and the People take care of the Lake. It is sad that man wants to take the Lake. I just do n ot like racially biased statements. No matter who makes them. I try to see people as just that,,,people. I feel like a hipocrate{sp?} because on another forum I'm spouting off about illegal immigration. But it's not their race its that what they do is illegal.

Just don't push so hard all at once, I respect the Native Americans and think that you people deserve more respect and authority over your land and should be able to do what ever you want on it. Please don't turn this into a big fight look what happened in Montana when they did now the state runs the casinos there. Just work it out over time and please don't turn this into a race issue.
