I have been scouring the news all day today to try and find information on the BURGLARIES that have been happening in Holiday City. It seems that people are not aware of this threat in Holiday City (the 55+ community in Tom's River). I would think that there should be some communication to the people of Holiday City about the fact that there was a string of burglaries in THEIR area and should be alert. SO BE ALERT!!!! The man appears to be on foot but was spotted walking across a woman's yard so probably parks his car somewhere else. He has been described as about 5'9, husky and wears dark clothes with a ski mask One attack happened while the people were sleeping in their beds. He seems to be pretty BOLD since he spent time stealing everything from the home while people were sleeping. IF YOU SEE ANY SUSPICIOUS PERSON CALL THE POLICE!!! YOU COULD BE PREVENTING ANOTHER ATTACK!!! I am not trying to panic people but Holiday City is a quiet community with so many sweet people that live a quiet life. They should be aware that there is a threat to their safety!!!

My parents, who live in Holiday City, were robbed this past weekend. From reading reports and discovering there have beenof another 10-15 robberies in the past month or so, I've ascertained it absolutely sounds like the same intruder for all of them. Luckily they were not home. I will say this of the police dept. We reported this on Sunday and yesterday (Monday) there was a few marked and unmarked patrol units strolling through. I hope they keep that up. If this 'scum' is so bold as to break in and search for valuables a few inches from the sleeping residents (the one reported on April 16th) this will escalate and someone will be hurt. I guarantee drugs and the habit associated are the motive here. He will be caught. Please, anyone and everyone, report anything suspicious in the area to the police...

To Papa,
In reply from your dumb comment:
My gran other was robbed, her doors and windows were ALL LOCKED. This dirtbag broke the glass to get in, leaving glass all over.

I'm purchasing a home in Holiday City South. I would like to know if any more burglargies have occurred and if this is a continual problem at Holiday City. Is there anything else I should be aware of? Thank you for your comments

From what I heard, many of the burglaries were through sliding glass doors of homes that back up to wooded areas and many were left unlocked. There have been mentions of this in the local (Holiday Cities Resident's Newspapers).

There are a group of communities nestled together in one large area that are referred to as "Holiday City". This amounts to about 10,000 homes, an attractive target indeed! All the residents are 55+ and may offer little resistance to a would be robber. There are several "homeless" encampments in Toms River and we occasionally see people from them hanging around the betting parlor and mini-mall. Eventually, he will run into one of the (many) residents who are armed and will be dealt with.

I have lived in Holiday City for 8 years. I have never encountered a problem with the homeless persons other then politness. They greet every day and are respectful to the elderly.

Homeless people are hanging out by the entrance of the Mini Mall and use the bathroom that is inside. It's gross! The Restrooms in that little mall was NOT intended for the homeless.
Not only that, they do scare the older people by hanging out at the entrance.

I'm VERY glad I saw these posts. I was going to start looking at homes this weekend in a couple of the Holiday City communities because I had heard that they are safer than most. Now I will reconsider. Thanks much.

I live in Crestwood Village which is about 6-7 miles west of Holiday city and even though the homeowner must be 55 they are allowed to have adult children living with them. This is a big source of crime. Adult children who live with their parents or grandparents in retirement communities often are drug addicts and sexual offenders or mentally ill. Within one block of me are 2 couples who have adult children living with them in that category and about 10 blocks away is a tier 3 sex offender whose picture is on the state website. He is on the front page of the newspaper every 6 months with a new arrest. I find the adult children of the senior citizens to be the source of most of the criminal complaints in this town.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Pisces

If you-know-who has been getting on your nerves recently, matters will soon come to a head and force you to take drastic action. As Mars turns tail in your sixth house, you might finally lose your rag with someone at work who's been testing your patience to the limit. Stand your ground if you feel you're being messed about in some way. Clear the air if needs be, but don't create a really nasty atmosphere by throwing an eye-popping tantrum. Take care of any infections.
