Arrests made in animal cruelty case at McCreary County ‘rescue'
By JANIE SLAVEN Commonwealth Journal The Commonwealth Journal Fri Feb 17, 2012, 07:00 AM EST
Pine Knot, Ky.—
Two McCreary County residents were taken into custody yesterday on multiple charges of animal cruelty.
Tina E. Jones, 36, and Jason Jay Greenfield, 34, both of the Pine Knot community in southern McCreary County were lodged in the McCreary County Detention Center after authorities served the couple with arrest warrants stemming from an inspection of the Heaven’s Little Angels Rescue located at 122 Cherry Lane.
McCreary County Animal Control Officer Milford Creekmore II sought the warrants after he and Judge-Executive Doug Stephens visited the property on Wednesday. Both men had received an increasing number of calls regarding the shelter over the last two weeks.
While Jones, who operates Heaven’s Little Angels, was either not at home or did not come to the door at the time of the inspection, Creek-more and Stephens witnessed outside the home multiple ill dogs, animal waste and even carcasses on a burn pile.
The men returned yesterday afternoon accompanied by Mc-Creary County Sheriff Gus Skinner, Kentucky State Police, Lake Cumberland District Health Department and McCreary County Emergency Management officials.
The agencies collected a total of 29 dogs and two cats, which at press time were to be transported to the Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter for assessment. McCreary County does not have its own public shelter.
Jones and Greenfield were arrested on charges of second-degree Cruelty to Animals, which is classified under Kentucky Revised Statutes as a Class A Misdemeanor

Thanks, If you do hear something will you post it please. The abuse case in Wingo Ky....the woman had 96 charges of animal abuse and 2 drug possession charges and got off with 365 days suspended sentence,$1000 fine, surrender a dog pen to the sheriffs office and drug charges dropped. Unbelievable miscarriage of justice. The animals were starved to the point they were eating the dogs that had died. See Animal Rescue Corp website re: Shannon Lacewell, Paws Claws and More Rescue and Transport of Wingo KY.
Was just wondering if McCreary County gave a more appropriate sentence to the abusers in that case.

This case is so sad. I hope the animals all found good homes.
