I just found out through somone who works at Brickeys that if an inmate complains to much they get put in solitary. Even if it's a medical need, they aren't allowed to file a grievance report or Greg Harmon will have that inmate do the hardest time in the worst way possible. Does anybody know how and who to talk to and get this man stopped before another young man ends up dead out there? It's the warden's fault when inmates die.

Inmates are state or federal property! They have no rights. Incarceration is punishment! I wish there were chain gangs but the sympathisers said it was cruel and unusual. Hard labor like that can make a man or woman change ways. If you dont want to be in jail, and we all know jail is no place to be, it easier to stay out of trouble than it is to get out of it once your in it. Its not that hard NOT to go to jail. Once your there.........yoour fault! Try to be more inventive at making a living as you are a shank!

First of all, these inmates have done something , or they wouldnt have came to prison. Whether it be murdering, stealing, drugs, kidnapping, rape, what ever. Everyone of them deserved respect, dont care who it comes from , up intill the point where the inmates steps on there toes and respect goes out the window. I showed respect, knowing some of the things I probably did ,(and got caught) would of been right there to. So inmates are human, mistakes are made, u can tell when 1 of them meant serious harm, most of them will tell u yea I meant to kill the.m. Dont like the sitting on death row so long, that is wasting tax payers money. You dont have to be freinds, just be there to listen, control there anger, quartee you will earn respect from someone of them. Its a hard job, walk through the gates, dont know am I walking back out them later. Who knows??? Inmates has more rights than the officers ever thought about having. But a dirty officer should be put right in there with them. He only feeding fire to the already hot coals. Officers & inmates, totally sick, they using something besides there brain, and now see where that gets them, back to finding a new job. Love it out there, got hurt and had to quit. 10 yrs. of it. Its only how the inmates & officers let it be.

I worked as a corrections officer for 5 years at cummins east building. There are many things corrupt about ADC but it starts at the top. Grievances are something officers took with a grain of salt from some inmates due to the fact they would get 20 a day from one inmate on twenty differnt things. It would be things like their mail was delivered an hour late and it caused stress in their life they should get a year taken off their sentence for the stress. Just stupid stuff like that. All got turned in to the grienance officer regardless of how stupid. But there were inmates with a real grienvance and most officers would make a real effort to help them. Its kinda like when you tell your kids not to cry wolf, same thing in there but its grown folks.
Medical department workers were always under staffed. Doctors and nurses that would try to help inmates by giving them medications would never last very long.
It was just a wierd enviroment to work in. Everyone hated to be there inmates and workers. Thats just makes for a cruel, dangerous, and miserable day on both side of the bars. I was so happy to get away from ADC and the person I had become.

I was recently @ DCC Pine Bluff facility and I had plenty of my own issues w the officers and treatment staff's total disregard of civil rights. The staff(including the higher ups) fail to even follow their own rules, the DCC Policies & Procedures. I am currently on a mission to file my own lawsuits regarding several different issues and situations. Anyone know a good lawyer for the job, or do I even need a lawyer? Anyone w good advice, please feel free to elaborate.

This is very true, Tammy. There ARE inmates who do horrible and unacceptable things while incarcerated.....both toward officers and other inmates. No one is denying that. What is the issue here is that OFFICERS who are "supposed" to be upholding the law are doing just as many horrible and unacceptable things. The ONLY difference is which side of the bars you are standing on. Don't act as if the officers are completely innocent is all that goes on behind the fence of ADC

This is NOT the first or last time an inmate will be involved in sexual activity with an officer. It happens EVERYDAY and everyone knows about it....well everyone who actually knows anything at all about the daily activities at ADC. The general public would be outraged to know how many employees of ADC are the proud parents of children belonging to inmates of ADC. The ONLY people NOT having sex are the inmates that actually are faithful to their spouses and are only there to pay their debt to society. Female guards regularly engage in sex with male inmates. Male guards regularly engage in sex with female inmates. Guards engage in sex with other guards (and higher ranking officers) In my personal experience, I don't think ANY prison guard has ANY business working with inmates of the opposite sex for ANY REASON. I haven't found anyone employed at ADC (regardless of which unit) that does NOT engage in illegal activity on some level. I guess as long as the taxpayers are content with spending millions of dollars every year to pad the pockets and pay the expenses of the ADC employees it will continue. If some state agency would actually investigate what goes on within ADC then something might actually change, but as long as ADC investigates ADC it will be as it has always been.
Yes, inmates are "supposed" to be able to report illegal activity by guards (or other ADC employees) but I have found that these reports don't ever make it past the guard at the gate or if it does NEVER past the one taking it out of the mailbox. Then the inmate who tried to make a report is treated horribly by employees or as someone else noted they are punished by being placed in solitary and having their very few rights violated, NO one at ADC, both on the unit level or at central office....does anything to stop the illegal activity. I have tried all levels. Multiple times. The only thing it has resulted in both of us becoming very frustrated and the inmate getting treated like crap.
The recently retired Hobbs is a prime example. His plan to retire before all the illegal activity he was both involved with and had knowledge of has worked well so far. The new director is obviously not any different. It has been a eye opening experience since my first encounter with ADC. I was so naive to think that the officers would be interested to know about problems and issues going on within the system. NOPE. They are too busy covering their own, and each other ass that they don't have time or energy to take care of any other problems. I wish there was someone out there that actually gave a damn about what goes on and would be willing to get off their ass and do something to make a change. As it is now, ADC has free reign and they are obviously taking full advantage of the taxpayers ignorance while they have the chance. Apparently residents of Arkansas have unlimited resources to "waste" on supporting state employees. If not, someone somewhere would put a halt to all this madness. Hmmmm, I wonder if there are any job openings at ADC. I know I could use some extra cash.

Elizabeth, if and when you get ready to go forward with this, PLEASE make others aware. I know I would be interested in getting a group together and making a difference.

The only Adc CO's that get spit on, or jacked up or whatever are the one's that treat us like we're scum or gumbo mud on the bottom of their boots. They use condescending comments and threaten us with the hole or max. Then there's some that run their dope deals to the inmates that got money. Then you got those black delta hoes that screw the inmates just because that's what they do best. So yeah, we can scream abuse all day long but nobody cares. So if I piss on you, you probably deserved it!
