I was just wondering what's up with all of the lawn mowers and four-wheelers being used as a form of transportation? Isn't that against the law? and dangerous? I find it funny how some things go unsaid in this town.

thats what walking is for. they cannot use these things as an excuse for transportation. I am not rich, but i dont risk other peoples lives by riding that crap ILLEGALLY on the roads.

I agree hillbilly, My next door neighbor, rides his lawn mower to buy food and yesterday I saw him riding it to get screen to screen his front porch, him or his girlfriend don't have drivers license and they get away with it all the time....

I have seen this firsthand... sitting on my front porch. There is a couple in town that, on a good day, both ride mowers to downtown... I guess when money gets tight, the woman rides on the hood. It's frickin' ridiculous. You let me even get caught with my purse in the other car and not having my license on me, and they would haul me to jail. ONLY IN PIKEVILLE FOLKS!!!

So true! Downtown will indeed be dead after everyone has an accident or two just trying to get down the road to the bank...lol Maybe we all need golf carts.

Lawn tractors/mowers are legal on the road just as any farm tractor is. Years ago, a man drove a international cub every where he went, this was after a DUI and he lost his drivers license. As far as main street goes, if you can't keep a vehicle in a ten foot wide lane, you need to stay at home.

i can show you a case in sale creek.boy was drunk, wrecked farmall tractor..got charged with dui..about 2 month latter police got him driving a ford 8n on 27 Hy ,,he was charged for operating a vehicle with out a license,,true you don't need a license to drive a tractor,,,but they suspend your right to drive,,and that covers any vehicle..inculding farm equip.on any public road..bicycles are not covered, and can still be operated,,but any motorized vehicle is covered..

different laws apply in city limits, than on state or county roads..golf carts are legal in several citys..but not on the county roads..farm tractors are exempt.exempt but for having the red triangle on the rear..consuration equip is exempt..exept for weight limits,,but a state trooper can always use that old unsafe motor vehicle law..on you..

I have seen several people riding lawn mowers and drinking beer too. I don't think anyone should be able to ride lawn mowers, four wheelers or golf carts on the main or side roads. I think it is unsafe. I'm also worried about the safety of the ones riding them. A lawn mower can't go very fast, therefore that slows other traffic down. These people also think they own the road ways. Not only do we have to watch for other cars and motorcycles, but for cryin out loud we have to watch for lawn mowers and other crap. I think something should be done. I know that if I ever hit someone on a lawn mower or four wheeler, I would probably be the one to take the blame. That is not right when they have no business on the street. My family and I are seeing it rough just like many other families in Pikeville, but if we don't have the money to buy gas for our CARS we either bum a ride or stay at home. Why should the rules be bent for certain people? Again it's all because this is Pikeville. Go figure.

I would have to call a state trooper because Lord knows the city and county cops would not find them in time to do something about it.

Rambler only legal if they have one wheel or set of wheels on the side off the pavement, also only legal to cross roads unless riden this way..... check TN code annotate.... Ask TN Hwy Patrol also they can advise. it is illegal for any vehicle such as four wheeler and lawnmowers to use public access roads except in this manner and then the riders are suppose to be wearing helmets.

Farm tractors are a different subject entirely.... and a different rating for road use, they are actually suppose to have flashing lights to be on road.....or someone following...

I cant figure out why we even have laws in bledsoe county. I cant tell you how many kids as young as 12 driving around with their parents knowledge...this is crazy.. 4wheelers are not street legal, neither are lawn mowers, or wheel chairs, golf carts can now be operated with proper registration and a valid drivers license and insurance where the speed limit doesnt exceed 35, In Chattanooga, if they catch you on a 4 wheeler, you have the book thrown at you, it really stops it from happening. 4 wheelers are an especial annoyance to me. I have had several pull out onto Hwy 127 without evening looking...and if I hit them, you know, Im screwed.

We have four wheelers riding back in forth on our county road(gravel) without helmets, isn't the tennessee law state, they are not allowed on county roads only in the trails off road?
