don't think it would effect unemployment checks,,they are state checks..just like last time,Federal workers take a vacation on your tax dollar, yes after the budget is passed they still get paid,it just means you are paying them for not working, what a joke on tax payers,,after the shut down, will you not be for the tax increase that comes next.hell shut the government down for 6 months and you would not need unemployment check, there would be jobs every where at good wages.

just as long as the beauty parlors and barber shops stay open I dont care!....

Not many people take this as serious as they should be..... this shows that all elected officials cant do their job collectively. THIS IS THEIR JOB. We are going to be held hostage for a while!

in the good old days, when the government did not have the money to send out the income tax refund checks, they was honest about it,the checks came late, but with interest..mine was about 6 months late one time..then they discovered the old shut down trick,,this year due to the shut down.do not think you will receive your income tax check on time,,it will be here when the government finds some where to borrow the money..thats the truth behind the shut down, wait and see..much like a contractor not showing up on Friday,so he can hold the pay roll until Monday, oldest trick in the book..but at todays interest rate its no longer worth playing.

Congress shouldn't get paid, either if there is a shutdown. Then, they may figure out what it means to shutdown.

that would be the best thing that every happened to this country,,talk about putting people to work,,talk about transfer of wealth.lets see change the laws that keep me from selling you food..milk would be 1 dollar per gallon, butter cheaper than you every seen it..good ice cream at 1 dollar per gallon, pork any cut at 1 dollar a pound,t bones at 3 per pound, hamburger at 50 cents..hell by winter i would be rich..hundreds of people growing food selling it to you instead of the middle man, grocery store food stamp game..reason people can not sell farm produce is food stamps.reason prices are so high for food is food stamps.

The truth is we have a better life than many underdeveloped countries and we all take alot of things for granted. People here are spoiled rotten by food stamps Medicaid section 8 etc. Maybe they should do this more often so people can stop relying on the system and work productively with the exception of help for the elderly and disabled through the social security system. These benefits should never be taken from them. As for those freaking out about food stamps and welfare checks maybe you could take this time to get off your ass and out of bed reproducing babies u can't afford and look for a job. I think the sponging needs to stop.

There are people who should be paid still. Like the military branch's. Some of them are putting there life on the line, even if it isn't needed (all the fighting) but they are told that's there job and do it.
no no no

Why should MY tax dollars go toward a military I get NOTHING out of? This is nothing but liberal socialist big spending.

Really you get nothing? I don't agree with this fighting going but if it wasnt for all the soldiers they have you could be there fighting. really, the military is protection your freedom from that. Also what if there was a event and you agreed something needs to be done are you going to leave your home, your life to do something about it. No you'll sit there and complain about the government and then complain about your tax dollars paying a solider. Hmmm might not be sitting there if it wasn't for that one solider. Every job is paying someone in the long run, everything we buy or have to pay for a service has been priced high and taxed so your bosses boss can pay your boss so your boss can pay you.

why would it affect your trip..last time it happened it had no effect on nothing..truth is every time a politician runs for office he says i am against abortion..then at budget time he votes to fund it,,yes if you fund planned parent hood you fund abortion..do you want your tax dollars funding it..if not support the politicians who would rather shut down than fund abortion,,planned parent hood has held the country hostage long enough,,,if your local leaders allow them in your schools, you need new local leaders..all these damn politicians claim to be against abortion, but from local state to Federal they all either fund it or allow it to be in the schools.

wow Hillbilly..you should do some fact checking. Planned parenthood budget for abortions is just 3% of the entire budget. The rest is for prenatal care, cancer screening and contrception. I never heare of schools offering abortions, this must be something new.
