I'm so proud of Tennessee for going blue this election. Even though I'm sure President Obama didn't win Bledsoe County, he won the state. I'm proud of people like my mother, who selflessly gave untold hours canvassing and talking to people in Tennessee and North Carolina. It's people like her that made this election what it is -- a landslide victory for progress over stagnation, a victory for the people over corporate domination, a victory for moving forward over returning to the outdated ideologies of the far right.

To all the democrats who supported Obama, thank you. To all the democrats who refused to support Obama out of fear or prejudice, you should be ashamed.

You must have been drinking last night. Obama did not win Tennessee.

Well now this is embarrassing -- I was looking at the wrong map. Looks like TN didn't go for Obama after all, or North Carolina for that matter.

So I guess Tennessee is still just as backwards as it used to be. Bummer.

Well Mike, how else can you explain it? I'm sure there are progressives in TN, but they're few and far between. Wouldn't you agree that the people who whole-heartedly believe that President Obama is a Muslim are a bit backwards? If I'm wrong, please let me know.

Let me explain it to you in a way you can understand. There are 50 states each with backward rednecks but you choose to label everybody in TN as backwards because of the actions of a few.I might have disagreements with some people in PIKEVILLE but as a whole most are good people who dont live in the 19th century.Face facts-are you any better its clear to me that you think your better than others and you need to be taken down a peg im not backwards but you comment seems to sugggest i am..

Look the words up in a dictionary: you cannot be both conservative and progressive.

Conservative: "tending or disposed to maintain existing views, conditions, or institutions"

Progressive: " making use of or interested in new ideas, findings, or opportunities"

In other words, Conservatism looks toward tradition, whereas Progressivism looks toward the future and change.

Mike, I don't think you're backward. But as a WHOLE, because TN on the WHOLE has refused to address the validity of gay marriage rights, chosen to emphasize a pro-life stance, and all in all behaved CONSERVATIVELY, I say that ON THE WHOLE the state is backward.

There are forward-thinking people there, sure. But on the whole, the state is backwards. Or, at the least, stagnant.

Mike: it was the actions of the MANY that caused me to label TN as a backwards state. The majority voted for Romney and all he stands for. That is conservative, not progressive, which mean two different things. As such, because TN is not looking forward to change, they are looking backwards to the past.

Anytime a person emphasises tradition over change, they are looking backwards. Do it often enough, and you become a backwards person. Enough backwards people, and you become a backwards state. Just like in 2000, when we found ourselves living in a backwards nation.

I'm sure Iran is excited since Obama will probably give them a nuke for free now. Too bad Obama will throw God's Chosen People in Israel under the bus.

Ron, you are just another Obama supporter who has no clue what they are talking about. The national deficit that Obama was suppose to eliminate has grown to 16 Trillion dollars. Do you even know how much that is? Sesame street doesn't count that high so you may want to look it up. The other thing to remember is, You never realize you are wrong until it is too late. 4 years of rising unemployment (failed promise) median income down (failed promise) housing foreclosures up at record levels still (failed promise) Iran with nuclear weapons (failed promise) Gov't grown by 75%(failed promise) and control of House to Republicans; Obama can only blame himself for the next 4.

First, you can't eliminate a huge deficit in 4 years, especially when the goal of the Republicans in the house and Senate were, to quote majority leader Mitch McConnell, to see that Obama is a one term president.

Unemployment has NOT been rising for 4 years. It fluctuates, but has been largely down from previous years.

Don't forget that Bush dug this hole we're in the first term, and then put us in a coffin the second term. In his first term, Obama has pried out the nails. In the second term, you'll see us not only crawling out of the hole but also filling it back in.

You explain it, why did he change his name, burn American flags, his wife wasn't proud of the country until he was elected etc. It all points to Muslim. The other Americans that have change their name to Muslim are Muslims. Ask them!
