Lets start with family history. My family has been Tennesseeans for over Two (2) Hundred years which I am very proud of.
I was born in Rockwood, TN and raised in Chattanooga, TN.
Went north to the U.S. Navy. Honorable Discharge.
Had several jobs after the Navy untill I joined the United States Capitol Police.

I attended and Graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Academy and The United States Capitol Police academy. I attended and passed training at the F.B.I. training center and the U.S. Secret Service training center.
I am a certified Background Investigator and a School Resource Officer. I am certified Crime Scene Investigator.

Married with Three Children, One Deceased and Three Grand Daughters.

I made the call to be a canidate for Sheriff of Bledsoe County to help the county and its citizens. I will treat everyone the same no matter who you are. I will be a community policing person. That means you will see me everywhere. I would be able to assist the Deputies in their positions and hopefully be able too instruct them in new areas they are not awear of. There are many programs out there that would help improve their training and equipment.

do you got any plans to try to get the drug problem under control in the bledsoe county school system..or are you even aware of it..if a drug dog hits a car in the parking lot,and it turns out to belong to a school board member, would you cover it up..or treat it like any one else..i know a police officer in Dayton who ran for sheriff here, that was going to make that his top priority, because his own daughter got hooked on drugs at the high school.he could not beat swafford..and did not run again last election.

The drug problem is not only at the School system, it is all over the county. Yes if there is a person regardless who they are gets caught with drugs they will be charged. Remember if you have a vehicle on school property it is subject to be searched. Drugs are a large problem but, also the crime rate is starting to get out of hand. If elected I ploan on starting several new programs:

1. We need to get qualified Reserve Deputies to assist the Department.
2. We can get Retired members of citizens involved in a Citizens On Patrol prodram to assist the Department by checking homes and property when the owners go on vacations or have other out of the area needs.
3. We need to improve on the training of all Deputies within the Department and to cross train many of them in total Law Enforcement activities.

Hope this answers a few questions?

I am also concerned with this county. I am counting down the days until the 2010 election. I truly believe this county can be helped by the right person. I do not agree with some of your statements, but however think you are intelligent. We do need extra man power other than full time officers. More Reserves would be great! But as far as the Retired going and checking homes and property, I do not want that to happen. We are suppose to have neighborhood watch. I do agree the officers need to be given more opportunities and to be under an educated, involved, knowledgeable, leader. A person who cares about the training they need to survive on the streets, not to mention the updated equipment they need also. It is so important that these deputies have the training to protect us and themselves. There are grants out there that the Department could try to get. We need someone who can also write for grants or in the least inquire about them. I will vote for someone who is physically and mentally able to take over the job as Sheriff, because it will take a strong person with both qualities to turn this county around. Good luck to all candidates.

Thank You Hillbilly

That program is in many counties and different states. It also gives the Law Enforcement another set of eyes on the street. No these people would not get involved if they see something, they would call for proper enforcement folks. They would also need some training given to them.
The main thing in the future of Bledsoe County will be to train our Deputies with all the training they can get. I am always learning something new and so would our Deputies. There is a need for what they call inservice training for Law Enforcement. This program can be used with other Counties in the area. It would inprove the working conditions also. You would also have better trained Deputies.

Yes there are neighborhood watches in different sections of the county, They can only be good if the Sheriff's Department works with them. I have been told they do not recieve that help or information that can assist them in their neighborhoods.

To have good neighborhood watches it is a two way street for information coming and going in and out to them.

I do not know the salaries as yet, but this is something that would be looked at in the budget.
I do know these deputies have to buy their own insurance, but again this could be looked at with the budget process. Most of these can be submitted during the budget planning for the Department. The Jail employees would also be included in these programs. The Sheriff is the one that puts the department budget together with the needs and wants, then it is submitted to the County Commissioner to be approved or changed.

Bledsoe Co. will never take care of there drug problem. They had a damn good drug officer that was cleaning up the County and City. But good old small town politics, got to love it. Ran him out of town. How stupid was that. Way to go Greg.(dumb ass)

Here are the salaries Mr. Cooke:

Starting salary is $9.84 per hour, which means that after 2 years or so the salary goes to $10.33 per hour. That being said, those numbers are not real accurate. Depending on the name of the officer, and the closeness to the administration, the salary can top $14.00 per hour (how do you like that?)

Don't get me wrong but why in the heck do you want to be sheriff of a hole in the world like Bledsaw County? You blurt out all your training but served in the Navy too? Are you pro gay? You say you have all this federal secret service training and all this other fed training and sound like you are a great law man traveling abroad. Your a resource officer? Where at? In Bledsa ? hahaha So you are telling us that you was in the Navy (as if that means anything because you couldn't make the cut as Army or Marine) you workerd a federal job as a capitol cop and by having that federal job and all the good fed benefits and salary you are now a resouce office in a school and have the answers to a bunch of hillbillys problems? Who are you kidding? I will vote for Mike Bice as bad as he is but at least he knows the demografics of the whole area. You was born one place, moved to another and we find it as an insult that you now come to some small rural county spending that federal money you made trying to sound smart. If this was a job intervew you are over qualifeid so you must have some other kind of motive. You want get the 25 votes needed for a petition pal. People like you from the outside come in and think you can solved problems just because you were in the damn puss navy and was a federal cop who got free feral training. if you were that good what you doing as a school cop then? You must not be as good as you say are you?

I can also see now you are a yes man and agree with everything here. I could say hey, can you pay deputys 25 an hour and youd say sure let me put it in a budget. Yep, your a navy gravy man alrite hahahaha

I just hope Mike Bice enjoys your support. You sure don't support your county. You move where your parents move you when you are a child. I am proud of my service to this country sorry they would not take you, but the country was better off without you in the service. No I didn't start my campain on the internet but was answering questions for thr community after they asked. After I retired I was worked as a School resource officer outside of D.C.. I can only hope for the communities sake they make a good choice during the next elections. Have a nice day.

What kind of fool get's on here and doesn't realize the purpose of this particular topic. People asked for credentials from Mr. Cooke and he delivered. I've not made a decision on who will get my support for sheriff yet, but I can tell you one thing whether it be navy, marines, army, air force or even coast guard these men deserve our respect and gratitude. You are a real piece of work "Mice Bice Supporter"! Mr. Cooke thank you for answering questions about yourself and thank you for your service to our great nation. And thank you for doing your part to preserve the blanket of freedom that we often take for granted.
