If you want to know how many confirmed cases are in Bledsoe County, try contacting your local health department and they should be able to give you a number. James Ellis will not tell you anything, he is so job scared he probably ask before he poops. Kiper doesn't care and want tell you anything so don't waste your time there. If you could see how nasty the bathrooms are at PES, OMG, you would know why everything spreads like crazy. Maybe we should just get together and boycott school for a few days and maybe our children will stay healthy. Kiper go back to wherever you came from. We know you don't care about our kids. He want even take a phone call from a parent, I have tried. You can leave a message, but he want return your call. If you really wanna know take my advice. Kept my two kids home today and probably will the rest of the week. Thank goodness they are still young and I can help them with their work and they want get behind. If they take me to court so be it. We will just see what happens.
if they take it to court please hire a lawyer, you will bust there bubble, they way they are doing it is illegal, under tn. state law,and you will have a legitimate law suit..but you got to act before time runs out..

Please go to CDC.gov and type "H1N1 death rate" into the search bar. The mortality rate is no where near 1 in 10 or 1 in 9. That would be 10 to 15%. The Rambler is right, the dead would be filling every funeral home to capacity plus. If you look at the data closly you will see that you as a parent are far more likely to die form H1N1 than your children
I have 2 at PES and while I am watchful I don't think we should start building Funeral pyres just yet.

Not saying that. We are just saying that it would be nice to keep the parents informed and if you got kids that go to PES you have to know that it isn't clean or has your watchful eye missed that? Thanks hillbilly for your info, I will probably need that because I have made up my mind to at least keep them out until Monday and then who knows? To you this may seem minor, to me with no health insurance it could be major.

An excellent satirical truth, Big Liar. Imagine that Superintendent Kiper said, a few weeks ago, that there was one confirmed case of swine flu at PES. What would your reaction have been--keep your kids out of school? A panic might have ensued when the best thing to do would have been to keep the matter quiet, treat the child, and try to maintain order.
We always want to know the truth, but to quote Jack Nicholson, we can't always handle the truth. Sometimes we over-react. I don't like being in the dark, but sometimes it's better that we don't know exactly what's going on.
So long as the infected children are tested, quarantined and isolated, the risk of outbreak is manageable. If panic ensues, all hell breaks lose and the schools are empty for days on end. Then everyone gets a letter from Upchurch.
Most importantly, remember that mortality rates for swine flu (H1N1) are NO HIGHER than mortality rates for the regular human influenza. If we knew about confirmed cases, we would be panicking for nothing.
one quick question Ron, do you have children? school age children? im guessing not! there are parents out here that value thier kids health over ANYTHING and being threatened by a piece of paper and a trip to the town jokehouse, to stand for judgement from crack head upchurch, just isn't enough to risk our babies! SCREW YOU HOWARD UPCHURCH, AND KIPER! do your worst!!!!!!

Isn't that how they do everything? THIER WAY!!! With no regard to the Law, only the Law as the make it!!! Hell has a very hotspot for mr. upchurch, and all his followers, i'm too young to know, but i have often wondered what kind of man his father was?

Your not the only one sister!!! They can sit back and argue it don't matter if they inform us or not cause it can be contracted anywhere!! This is true but like someone else said in another post any parent with a young child knows if one child goes to school with a dang runny nose the entire school is blowing bugers before the week is up. It is immoral to have this information and keep it from us and deem all of us incapable of "handling the truth", which is exactly what they are doing when they decide not to tell us! In my opinion thats gambling with my babies life, however small that risk might be. THAT IS NOT OK WITH ME! You would not let a child play on the playground if someone had reported a sighting of a poinsioness snack, right? Same thing here don't you think? They are taking that choice away from us when they decide not to inform us!!! Everyone has to make that decision for themselves, myself I have 4 children 3 of which are VERY sick i'm certain my oldest will contract it only a matter of time, so they are all at home, and will be until they are well. If you have children that are well its your choice do what you want, I am praying for all these sick children, I'm praying were not facing an outbreak of this awful flu. God be with us all!

Here are the facts:
There are confirmed cases in PES but because these children see doctors outside of Bledsoe County the confirmations are not counted here. These physicians need to contact the Health Department to confirm these cases. Then maybe they will close the schools and keep the flu from spreading.

Does no one realize that it does not matter if your or my child contracts H1N1 or plain old seasonal flu, the treatment is the same and the effects are the same. Also the only way we will know if there are confirmed H1N1 cases is if the patients are hospitalized since those are the only cases that are specificaly tested for in now.

thats why the news reported 1 in 9 deaths, because the only way they confirm swine flu is after a patient is hospitalized.and by that time they are really in bad shape.

Thats a skewed number. 1 in 9 of reported is nowhere near the same as 1 in 9 of over all.

"From April 15, 2009 to July 24, 2009, states reported a total of 43,771 confirmed and probable cases of novel influenza A (H1N1) infection. Of these cases reported, 5,011 people were hospitalized and 302 people died. On July 24, 2009, confirmed and probable case counts were discontinued."
That quote is directly from the CDC website and that is just reported cases. Unreported cases are now estimated in the millions. Stop scaring people this flu is no worse overall than regular seasonal flu.

I know for sure their is one case and the little girl attends Pikeville Elem. I just received a text asking for a prayer chain for her. I am sure there is more than this one. Close school for the next couple days and clean and disinfect good and then lets go from there, but dont lie to the parents so they will work with you instead of against you.

Because you're concerned for no reason other than fear of the unknown. If there was a child that had the regular flu, would you be angry that they didn't call you and let you know? If there was a child with chicken pox, what do they do? Close down the school and send everyone home so they're never exposed to it?

It's a fact that exposure to bacteria and viruses helps our immune systems learn to fight off disease. Believe it or not, but a filthy bathroom is a great thing for a child. That way, they don't DIE when they contract other bacteria or viruses later in life.
