Fish and Game gets calls each and every month about mountain lions, none has been seen yet. None on film, none in a trap, none at all. Usually what kills pets are coyotes. All these people who claim to have seen them with pictures and such, should be on "Monster Quest".

<quoted text>Are you saying the coyotes are to blame? Or your bogus Mt. lion? You undoubtedly mistook a house cat or long-tailed bob cat for a Mt. lion, as they have been gone from Ky. for many years.
There have been several sitings in the last couple years. There is a big size difference in a house cat and a mt. lion

<quoted text>You obviously don't have a clue as to what you are talking about. Black bears, MTN Lions, Bobcats are all here in Eastern Ky. It has been a few years but a man at Dorton lost a horse to a black bear, it came right into the barn and killed it. I don't have to guess as to what I am seeing and have seen paw prints that belong to mountain lions, I have seen several Big Bobcats and a lot of bear tracks. To think they live in Virginia and not here, with us bordering that State is complete stupidity.
Agree. They are here too.

And just why wouldn't there be mountain lions and such in Ky??? With all the wilderness they can just walk in from other states. They don't know anything about state lines. I heard back about 4 years ago that some people had run-ins with mountains while using a turkey call. I guarantee that wolves have moved in and if not yet it is only a matter of time. It's a known fact that Magoffin has had bear problems. Of course there is. They also drift in from Canada. They dont know anything about about country lines either.

I spend alot of time in the mountains here and I have seen a few cougars with cubs, I will say that they are not afraid of humans in the least. When I ran upon them they do not run just walk.

I have also seen black panthers in the big creek area at night. If you dont know what to look for you will never see these cats, they are loners and they are a quite stocking animal...very quite.
I have seen them mostly in the higher parts and the cougars in the lower parts.

So dont say they arent here cause I have seen both.

Well I do believe you that they are there. Most people don't know how to be quiet and listen. Wildlife is getting bolder now. I would love to get myself some binoculars and be in a place where I could see them. Of course with a bear it can be dangerous. The wild life isnt always going to make themselves known.

The question and answer show on KET with the Fish & Game people was interesting the other night. They say there are no Mountain Lions in Kentucky. I will beg to differ and do not know why even the local Fish & Game people say there are no Mountain Lions in Ky. I have seen one and wish I had a camera but would have been to shook up to use it. I have spent time out west, have seen hundreds of them on TV and know what a Mountain Lion looks like. This was no Wild Cat or Lynx, not an over grown house cat. Had the face and markings of a Mountain Line or Cougar, long body, long tail and it had no fear of me. It was on a log and stared at me for about 3 or 4 minutes, I was afraid to make any sudden moves and I was outside my ATV and only had a 22 cal. Pistol on the inside in the glove compartment. The cat jumped from the log and strolled off slowly after a few minutes of eye to eye contact. I don't care what Fish & Game says we have Mountain Lions in Pike County...

I have yet to see one, but I'd guarantee they are out there. I've seen several tracks of a larger cat, just haven't been fortunate enough to see one. These mountains are full of wildlife and anyone who spends enough time in the hills will eventually come across a critter they haven't seen before.
