I live in a hollow on Hurrican Ck.About two years ago, two lg. dogs chased a young mt.lion out of the woods into my yard.I chased them away, and called the News Express. They came and took pictures of the Mt. lion which died later that day.Nothing was ever printed about the subject. On the 26th. my neighbor's lg.gray cat went missing from the porch.and four days later, another cat went missing. It's fur was strewn on the grass about 50 ft.leading into the woods.does anyone else have missing pets in this area? I would like to hear from you.

There was a recent mountian lion and bear siting right off to the left from Penny Road at Virgie! Alot of dead rabbits and chickens that were blamed on dogs. Persons seeing these animals know that the mountain lion was in their yard, The scared itt off one night after returning from Pikeville.

The mountain lion cub that was killed in my yard had to have a mother,so I just assumed it was her that took the pets,I searched the web and found that the cayote's favorite foods are house cats and even small dogs. They even attack kids and adults..Ps true2life Do'nt show your ignorance,You are'nt funny..

Are you saying the coyotes are to blame? Or your bogus Mt. lion? You undoubtedly mistook a house cat or long-tailed bob cat for a Mt. lion, as they have been gone from Ky. for many years.

This article was written in 2004, so I guess it might be possible to have a mountain lion here.

There are not supposed to be but Fish & Game bring some stuff in here, ELK and such. They may have introduced them or maybe that naturally drifted in from out west.

I have seen a Mountain Lion, long brown body, long tail and the face looked to be mountain lion "cougar" not lynx or bobcat.

I don't know who reintroduced them into the area but I have seen one.

I WASN'T TRYING TO BE FUNNY. The persons that saw the animals are totally believeable. Why would you think I was ignorant?

You obviously don't have a clue as to what you are talking about. Black bears, MTN Lions, Bobcats are all here in Eastern Ky. It has been a few years but a man at Dorton lost a horse to a black bear, it came right into the barn and killed it. I don't have to guess as to what I am seeing and have seen paw prints that belong to mountain lions, I have seen several Big Bobcats and a lot of bear tracks. To think they live in Virginia and not here, with us bordering that State is complete stupidity.

Dozer, Thank you for your intelligent comment.I was serious,My feelings were hurt by those who made fun of me.A year or so ago,Floyd Co.paper had an article of a mountain lion on the golf course.A friend of mine works for the foresty divison, says they're following the deer.I have a huge pond, when the dry spell came year before last,it was awsome to see the many different tracks at the waters edge.

In California and Washington we can't walk around at night because of the mountain lions and people are judging me a spammer, nuts and lots of other things on this site because I'm just being honest about my experience with the mountain lions in rural isolated communities. I cannot walk my dog after sunset. Period. With daylight savings time the sun will be gone at 5.
