True... I dont even know where to begin with you. To say the only way to prevent something like that is to put a fence up and to look both ways when you cross sounds dumb. Laws of the land? How about laws while you drive. Pedestrians always have the right of way. How about the law that says that after your in a car accident, your supposed to stop. If not its a hit and run. No one is shouting murder here. Involuntary manslaughter sounds more accurate. If it was someone in your family that this scenario happened to, I guarantee you wouldnt be saying, oh my mom or dad shouldve looked both ways. It would sound more like the driver shouldve been more attentive while driving and shouldve stopped the car and called for help especially since she herself was injured and brother couldve been hurt to. It sounds like to me your a friend of the person and trying to protect your friend but thats ok. Im not going to sit here and debate you about what shouldve or couldve. The authorites will investigate and whatever happens happens.

here is the law of the land dumb ass

Jaywalking is a term commonly used in North America to refer to illegal or reckless pedestrian crossing of a roadway. Examples include a pedestrian crossing between intersections without yielding to drivers and starting to cross a crosswalk at a signalized intersection without waiting for a permissive indication to be displayed. In the United States, state statutes generally reflect the Uniform Vehicle Code in requiring drivers to yield the right of way to pedestrians at crosswalks; at other locations, crossing pedestrians are either required to yield to drivers or, under some conditions, are prohibited from crossing now by law the other 3 should have been giveing a tickett

I was stating my opinion. I never said who's fault it was.
Here is my opinion again,I just think EVERYTHING about the incident should be looked in to.
There are several things on the drivers part that doesn't make alot of sense.
I can understand friends defending friends. But right is right, and wrong is wrong. If you weren't there, then you don't honestly know any more than we do.
Then people have these friends that only try to protect their friends when there is something to gain.

I am in no way trying to compare him to an animal, but last year I hit a dog. It did run out in front of me. I slammed on my breaks and went to the house whose yard the dog came from. I told her how sorry I was.
If I can stop for an animal, she could've stopped for a HUMAN BEING.
I do know who these people are. I must say that I haven't seen them in years. Word is they haven't changed since I moved out of that community.
The old saying is true, people know what you are by the company you keep. Any good person can go bad if they run with the wrong crowd long enough.

The stretch of road is six lanes wide. AutoZone is about 350 yards from Wendys. The area is not poorly lit. The speed limit is 45 mph. To say people habitually exceed the speed limit in this area is an understatement. I would imagine that with headlights, traveling at the speed limit, visibility would not be an issue if the driver is attentive.

I just drove through there on my way home. I easily could have seen pedestrians on the shoulder or otherwise.

This is just my opinion and thoughts.
I wonder why 2 of these posts have been removed. Maybe they contained useful ideas or information.
Anyway, someone knows where they were going and are afraid to say. I just hope justice is served, because this was a senseless act. That place is lit up enough to see perfectly fine when you are paying attention and driving the speed limit.
Driving at night is similar to driving on a wet road. You need to use common sense and slow down, yes,a little slower than the speed limit. That goes for anywhere.
The speed limit might be 55 on this 2 bit road I live on, but at night, it isn't safe to drive that speed. You should be alert and expect anything.
I have to agree with the above posters, IF A WINDSHIELD IS IN SOMEONES FACE, they are going to stop immediately. NOT drive on down the road.
I think they should have dogs to sniff the people and vehicles when things like this occur.

@ Research, I was referring to the speed limit by my house, not the one on the 6 lane.

@wonder. Sorry. I misread. But totally agree.....common sense should prevail no matter where you are driving.

With accidents such as this, drug test are done. Ms.Young was not arrested, that should state one thing. Not drugs involved, so why keep it up. An accident is just that, an accident. With Ms.Young going to the hospital herself, one knows it was checked out. I have been in a accident myself, was hit from behind. I was checked, even though the accident was not my fault. So in most cases as this, drug test are done. They guy that hit me was coming around the curve at Millard, claimed he did not see me. It was still light outside, if one is talking they pay less attention, and that I am guilty of myself. Talking and driving, even to this day I do the same thing.

I do agree, the good Lord does know. And, he can not be lied too. But no one knows exactly what was involved, or what was not. I am guessing here, as well as any one else. All can say is this, may God have mercey on them all. More than one was hurt, the family was hurt by the death. Ms.Young will live with this for the rest of her life, she will have to be the one who sees it happening over and over in her mind.

This is to the family of the guy......

In 05 I lost a sister, her life was taken. We know the guy that caused her death, for over 4-5 years I hated him. That hate would not let me go on with my life, it ate me up. I found myself one day walking through a church door, seeking peace from my hate. That night I gave myself to God. All hate was taken away, I realized some thing. Man killed God's only son, man was Forgiven. God loved us still, and if God can Forgive so can we. I know it will take time to do so, like I said, I been through it myself.
May God bless you all, and heals your hearts.

Ma'am, I understand what you are saying.
As for me,this is just my opinion here and none of it is aimed at anyone.
I do have drug addicts in my family so I know how this goes.
If someone fools with drugs, they don't feel any remorse for what they do to others. They only care about THEMSELVES!!
They can sit and talk telling you what they think you want or need to hear, all the while manipulating you.
I do know them, but haven't seen them in so many years. She was a nice girl at one time, but she started hanging with a not so good crowd. That alone can and does make good people go wrong in life.
Don't misunderstand me, I am not saying that she did do anything. I am speaking in general.
I have heard things about them from some of their friends, who are relatives of mine,I don't believe everything I heard, but I do some of it.
I have no idea what happened that night, but I do feel that there is more to it than what is being said. The area is lit up just fine. I came through there last night, and there is no reason that should've happened if one is paying attention and clear headed, driving the speed limit and obeying the law.
I feel so sorry for the family that suffered a loss and I hope they get the justice that they deserve.
