Its over people, get out of the coal business and Eastern Kentucky while you still can, before the only source of income we have left is SSI and welfare.

I really don't understand why people are making a fuss over coal. It's just a job, just like any other. You really can't stop time and keep all coal towns living in the past while other states have moved on. If pike county goes under because of coal, there are other places to move on to. It won't be the end of the world just because we stop using coal. My bill is still $500 a month anyway.

Coal, like other resources, were put on this earth , to be used. People are pissed off because of one little jackass and his minions, who have decided they don't like it. I worked in the mines, after graduating High School. Hated it, but I had an avenue out. Most people don't!!!

The writing for this has been on the wall for decades. Anybody w/ a way out of this town got out when they graduated. The only ones left were ppl who didn't have a way out, got (foolishly) married out of high school or were tied to coal. Besides, when you can get better, cleaner, cheaper fuel from renewable sources w/o putting lives at risk, why keep mining?

I'm a college grad, could've moved anytime. Maybe we like the people here, the hills, or our families. Maybe we don't like being just another "face in the crowd", the fast pace, or the dangers of living in the city. Some of us, like it here.

I don't think you grasp how devastating the loss of jobs from coal would effect your economy. All you have to do is to look at the steel cities and see how long it took them to even recovery some of the jobs they once had. The coal jobs in your community has effected every aspect of your economy. I hope you know of a source that can take the place of the coal jobs in your area. All of your businesses will be effected by the loss of these jobs.
