anyone know anything about craigslist? I posted an ad on there and I have an email reply from a man. I am afraid to click on the email, afraid its a virius if I do. I thought the replies was supposed to come from craigslist, not some ones name. This is my first time using Craigslist, and I dont know anything about it. I tried to find this answer on there, but couldn't.

You really need to stay off the personals on there if you re afraid to answer you replies.

I just put a couple of vehicles on there and almost instantly got hits on them. Sounded above board with the questions so I answered them and as soon as I hit send there was a reply instantly. I know they didn't have time to even read the email. They ask me to withdraw the items and send them my information so they could send me a check buying them sight unseen. These were one 20,000.00 vehicle and one junker. But still people just don't do that sight unseen. So I deleted the emails and I think Craigs list has turned into mostly people scamming people. Might have started out good but its a waste of time now.

I've sold tons of things on there. The worst that I've seen on there is like the previous poster said about scams. They want you to send them the item without any questions. I sold a travel trailer on there once, got an email back stating that he would send enough for shipment..consider it sold..lmao...it's a freaking travel trailer. Your email should state in the subject box that this person was interested in your post on craigslist.

Tell them you will withdraw the item when it is sold. First come first serve. You should also sign up and use paypal for your transaction. You will be covered on the things you sell or buy. Next time you sell something use ebay. Been there and done that.

Craiglist used to be a great website...it went to the the Craigslist killers...and then spam. I tried to ask someone about a four wheeler and then I was actually replying to a classified...be careful with things that seem to good to be true. It seems now everything is going to porn.

I posted you before and said just remove it and use ebay...once you get registered with them then sign up with paypal. monies then will be transferred back and forth ( buying or selling ) It is safe and your name and address is kept out of it, you don't send the item till you see the money in your account. And since you are using ebay and paypal you are completely covered. :-)

I will not open any emails that dont look ligent. I guess this is my first & last time to use craigslist. I use Craigslist all the time, just not from the East KY site. It's the only one that sucks so bad! If people understood it then it could really take off. The email will usually come from a person's individual email address, so relax. When they send you an email, they will not know your email address unless you give it to them, so seller's are generally protected like that. Just exchange phone numbers so that you know it's a real person, and make all transactions cash only and meet in a public place, or have multiple people home if it's something large. Just use common sense as you would with posting a listing for a classified ad in a newspaper. Most people I've seen will list their number and insist people only call and state they will not check emails. Don't give up on CL! Hope this helps!

Well I often use the Southwest VA (which covers Grundy, Wise, Norton, Big Stone Gap, etc) one, and Lexington in addition to the Eastern KY one. Those just get a lot more traffic and more people use it. You can definately post on more than one location to get more people to view your item. If you live closer to WV you could also advertise on the Huntington one. It depends on how far you might be willing to drive to meet someone.
