I refuse to even use Facebook. I'm about convinced it was created and run by the CIA or some U.S. Gov't. agency to accumulate information about people.

Ya know... I used to think that people were wacky for thinking stuff like that... But now I get it! Every day I hear another story on t.v. or online about Facebook supposedly sharing users personal when people's private messages were popping up on there timelines for all their friends to see... Whoa! That's just weird and messed up in my opinion... I'd literally crap myself if some of my private messages appeared on my timeline, lol! The more that I hear about Facebook's issues, the more I hate it... Most of my close friends have ditched it since last summer anyway, and went to Twitter, Tumblr or Google+... I'm seriously thinking about doing the same!

Ugh! Somehow a chunk of my comment got cut out while I was trying to post it... I meant to say "Every day I hear another story on t.v. or online about Facebook supposedly sharing users' personal *INFORMATION*, then there was that incident a few months ago when people's private messages were popping up on their timelines for all their friends to see!" I don't know how my comment got effed up like that before it posted... Oh, well!

The internet can be a negative place and just look at all the people that have gotten in trouble or fired from their jobs merely for Facebook posts. People play out their entire lives on there..provide all kinds of info, pictures, locations, and I firmly believe it's being used to stockpile information on people. Current internet media is destroying people's accountability as well. People think that because they're anonymously concealed on certain sites they can say whatever they want or be as rude as they want to others. Look at how people cannot even talk to someone face to face anymore..even when around others they're online or texting or something related
to tech somehow. If you really want to get concerned, research the Utah Data Center. It's
a $3 Billion complex built by the NSA in the mtns. of Utah solely for spying and info gathering on
people. It can access cell phone lines/signals, land lines, satellites, and even your PCs harddrive
while at home..meaning they don't have to physically come get it anymore. Big Brother is HERE!

Whoa! That's scary! And creepy! And speaking of people who post all kinds of stuff online... A woman that I went to high school with (but hadn't seen in at least 8 years) sent me a friend request a year ago and I added her because I didn't want to be rude by rejecting it, even though she was snobby and petty and she didn't speak to me much back then, especially after she won prom queen in our senior year and thought that she was Miss America... Well, she is married now and lives in Texas... She posted approximately 100 status comments a day, with tmi (too much information) details about her, her husband's and their families' personal lives, such as her ibs (irritable bowel syndrome, yeah) issues, her husband's ingrown toe nail issues, and her husband's mom's issues with her boss and sister! Plus, she posts all kinds of pictures of pointless stuff, such as her dinners, her making the dinners, her cosmetics, her closet full of overpriced clothes and shoes, her purses, her car, and her husband's sister's new patio (wtf? no one here in Kentucky even knows her husband's sister, lol)... I deleted her eventually because her excessive postings, pictures and stories about her sore, inflamed bowels finally got to me! At some point, enough is enough!

That's another issue resulting from all this internet / social site activity: Some notion that people are so important that everyone else MUST know what they're doing or where they are every 5 min. What a notion of exaggerated self importance, huh? A lot of people have told me that's one of their biggest complaints with Facebook, like what you said..that people they went to school with but were never actually friends with contacting them and acting as if they were best buds or something.

Facebook can be fun. But yea, some people get way too personal on there. I once saw a whole family argue and call each other names under a status that one of them had wrote. I was in shock that someone would throw their dirty laundry out there like that. But at the same time, I just couldn't stop reading it. It's been a while since I was able to watch the soaps...now there's Facebook.

the thing that gets me on facebook is the UNSPOKEN PRAYER REQUESTS....???
if they were unspoken...you wouldnt speak of them right??
people say god knows all about it, but then they still ask others to pray
and we dont even know what it is we are supposed to be praying for
for all we know they could be asking us to pray for them to win the lottery
or that they are praying for something bad to happen to someone
if u arent gonna say what it is then dont say it at all
and if god knows all about it anyway, why ask

I personally agree with Swine Slayer here. I think Facebook is a government information gathering tool to get intel on its citizens. The only social media I, use is Twitter. I don't send tweets though, I, only use it as sort of my on personal news feed for things like Baseball, TV shows, and other things I like to keep up with. That's the only thing I see that it is any good for.

Btw, after I, realized who Swine Slayer was, good to have you back man. I left this site myself for over a year and only recently started posting again, in the last month or so.

I use very little internet media myself and have canceled my former profiles on sites. I know there is always a permanent record of things though out there in cyber-space but I've never put out TMI (too much info) to start with.

The story is the person you think I may be was "permanently banned" from this site after he
waged a prolonged exposure of hypocrisy on the part's of trolls and administrators and we must
keep up appearances. Therefore, it's nice to meet you, heh heh.

Facebook is going the way of Friendster and Myspace. Facebook has lost a lot of users lately. More than 50 of my friends have deleted their Facebook pages in the last 3 months alone. It's all about the next big fad now: Twitter. Twitter is where it's at. There is less drama and more real news on Twitter. I predict that Google + will be the next big fad.
