I know that, I'm not an idiot. Like I said I would like to hear from a student, either current or past, and see what the program is like. I'm currently working on the pre-requisites required before being able to apply to the program.

Don't go to big sandy nursing program. It sucks. I went and had to quit in my second year because I had breakdown. The teachers don't care and don't help. There were 40 girls starting the year I went. Only 7 made it. Try pikeville.

I'm sorry if that came across as rude. I'm not a rude person by any means. Thank you for your suggestions. I will probably apply to Big Sandy and Pikeville. I also heard they only take 40 students.

I just graduated from BSCTC RN program. It's a tough program, but if you study hard enough and put forth the effort, you'll graduate. People think nurses are - let me tell you, we have to learn just as much as the doctors do. We have to know basic anatomy, pharmacology, and disease processes. It's not an easy program, they want to graduate to best and the brightest. I would recommend speaking with Clara Garrett or Kim Derossett (I might have misspelled her last name) at the Prestonsburg campus. They are amazing instructors and care about their students. The instructors will be your biggest cheerleaders, but they are not going to hand you that diploma. You can do it.

BSCTC, your perception of having to learn as much as a Dr. is greatly exaggerated. With experience you may be as knowledgeble as 1st year resident. However, you will quickly learn your role in the medical environment. I wish you the best in career.

I don't know much about big sandy...but at Pikeville the instructors are super rough, but really care about helping you. It's a great program.

Just looking for people who graduated the nursing program to give me a little info on things that I must know before I start the program. I'm so excited I got in, but at the same time very nervous. I heard it was the hardest nursing school around this area!

Donna Damron graduated from the (PCC)Big Sandy Community College Associate of Nursing Program; if she can do it, then anybody can. Do the assignments, keep up with the information, keep your file complete, and don't talk about anybody behind their back, and you should do fine. Like I said, if Donna Damron can graduate from that program, then anybody can, cause she ain't that smart, or at least not as smart as she thinks she is; she just went through the steps required to accomplish each skill set and most likely kissed up a lot, but she made it, and look at her today--she's eating really well--Huge!
