I got a call Monday about a strange object found at a construction site in Pikeville. When I arrived I was shown the object by one of the construction workers. It was metallic and round and was partially enbedded in the ground. There was some type of writing on it though I did not recongnize it. There were symbols on it which looked like chicken feet prints amoung other things. There were some lettering, but nothing that made sense to me. I asked a freind of mine, a professor at U Pike, to come down and have a look. He was not a histlry professor, but he has some knowlege of it. It was in close proximity to the college so he came down at lunch and had a look. He said it appeared to be older than 300 years. It appeared to be made of copper and the writing could be american indian or possible runic. The location is in ther vicinity of Jefferson street where they are building some apartments. The crew were diggin trenches when they cam upon the object. The workers were freaked by it, thinking it may be an old indian burial ground. The professor saw no indication of it being a burial ground. He showed me some photos of precolumbian artifacts that were simular, though no one seems to know the true purpose of the disks. I will post a photo of the disk on the Pikeville Photo section. I'll let you know more when find out more.

As wild as this seems, this really happened. I live on Jefferson street and there is constrution going on at the end of the street. The workers called the police first when they found it and then the city workers cam soon afterward to remove it. It looked more like a rock to me than being copper, but I don't know. There was writing on it, or should I say characters on it. The professer guy came and looked at it, but I was escorted away from it before I could hear what he said. The other guy, who I assume is Barsoom, drove up in a white state truck. Actually, he drove with the city workers. He took a few photos and spoke with the professor. He has an id arund his neck and what I thought was funny was that he had a Paul Mccartney shirt on. I guess he doesn't dress profesionally. He for sure was in a state vehicle, but I don't know what department. He did have some type of GPS because he was puncing buttons on it while he was there. What was stranger was that the professor road a bicycle to the site. These two looked sort of out of place. The college is close so I guess that may be why. Now, I can't vouch for how old this thing is, it looked like a round rock, but I guess because it came from the ground, it probably is old. I cannot say that the other things Barsoom has talked about, but I can tell you at least this one is true. At least a round disk (rock or copper?) was found.

Moonshine still, he had a scratch mark on it for every run he made on it but all the scratching on the copper weakened the metal.
It blew one night and all that was left was the heavy bottom plate from the boiler.
This may also explain some of the strange flying objects or UFO's around Pikeville.

Old Copper turns brown like an old penny. Looks like a rock. Copper that size would be extremely heavy. The crack makes it look even more like stone. It is still neat.

I think it is near the Catholic church. I saw something about it on the news, mainly a fluff story, but it was interesting. They think it may even be 1000 years old. I wonder what it is worth?

Copper will break down after about 5000 to 10000 years to a state where it looks much like rock. But the professor on the news said it was only 1000 years old. He admitted that no tests have been done on it yet. The news story alos stated that some unknown group has purchased the disk. From my understanding it was an organization from this area. I wonder who it is?

I hate to bring M H Wilson back into this conspiracy, but guess who was in the Pikeville library asking for books on native american artifacts? None other than author M H Wilson. I have a friend that works in the library so I know this is true. This only gives more credence to my theory that Barsoom and M H Wilson are one and the same person. I think the author is secretly gathering information using this forum and stories in the area to collect it. Mr. Wilson has not publically denied it, either. There are too many coinicences for them not to be the same. Barsoom claims to work for the government. M H Wilson works for state government. M H Wilson on the back of his book THe Galactic Seven mentions his favorite author is Edgar Rice Burroughs. Now Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote a book called A Princess of Mars and Mars in the book is called Barsoom. M H Wilson claims to live in downtown Pikeville, this story is in downtown Pikeville. On M H Wilson's facebook page (listed as Melvin Wilson) there is a photo of oh him playing drums and on the caption below the photo the letters IAB. Could stand for I Am Baroom?
I am calling your bluff Mr. Wilson. Let's hear a response from you.

I live near there also. Alot of weird things going on at that consrtuction site. I've always heard there was an old Indian camp there. I know they found Indian arrows there. My freind growing up lived straight across from there and we used to dig for them there. We never found anything like the copper disk, but just to think we could have if we would have dug a little deeper. When I saw the story on the news I had to call my friend up and tell him. He doesn't live there anymore, but it did bring back memories.

Copper can turn green when exposed to the air, but copper that has been buried can retain its original color. This object has been buried for a very long time. In the photo it appears that the object is only rock, but this may be only because it has be encrusted by the layer of the rock it was found in. Also remember, that copper and other metals produced by the ancients is not of the same high quality it is today. They may have used a rock base then layered the copper around it. The copper may have worn off after years in the ground. I think this object is older than what the professor from U Pike has suggested. I don't think the copper would have worn off in just a thousand years or so. This object may be around 5000 years old. Now, before any object to that, the native Americans were surely here during that time period and there are many scientists think they may have worked with metal such as copper. I would like to veiw this object myself, but I understand that a local author has acquired it. I think it is a very interesting find.

I would very much like to see this stone. Who has it now? The chicken feet you refer to are more than like likely turkey feet. Among other markings are turkey feet on the "red bird stone" located in manchester. Turkey feet represented the bird clan of the cherokee nation. Please post more pictures of this stone. That site should be shut down and it should be an archeological dig. This is no small find. This stone could be one of many great artifacts still under the earth at that location. Please post pics and information as to how I can see this stone. Thanks
