Any idea what the rent will be here? I'd imagine a lot of people will be wanting to live there, so it will probably be $1k a month or so.

...that is affordable? It's not going to be some "budget" apartment complex. I'd even consider living there if they'd keep some of the trash that a "budget" complex can attract out!

I am sure $1000 a month is affordable for an apartment, if the Ppartment happens to be located on New York City or a similar location.
Unfortunately this is Pike county. Whomever made the decision to build the apartments over the stores has made a huge money losing decision if they do indeed plan to price them at $1000 a month.
I would suggest researching the areas demographics a bit.$1000 a month is 80% or more or the monthly net income of 75% of the areas population. For someone to rent at that price, they would be left with MAYBE enough money to pay EITHER utilities or buy groceries, not both. If they have a car payment also, then both utilities and groceries are out if the question.
Also, explain the logic in paying $1000 a month for RENT, when instead a person can go out and buy a top of the line double wide trailer, and have a MUCH lower monthly house payment than rent here would cost, and they would have ownership.
I don't know if you have a clue what you are talking about ummmm, but if you do, this will be massively failed project.

Ps
The people in this area that actually can afford $1000 a month for rent, already own homes, so they won't be staying there either.

Lexington apartments are in the $1000ish range; lots of places are in that range.

But Lexington has a Major University, 2 Interstate Highways, 2 Horse Race Tracks, Toyota, and a National Hospital of the Year (for real).

Lexington actually has the economy, population and demographic to fill some apartments of that price. Pikeville is not Lexington. By definition, affordable means having price that the population can generally afford.

Pikeville commons has a choice, they can either be affordable as was originally stated, or they can be around 1000 a month and mostly sit empty as a wasted investment.

Rent has to be high there to keep the low life drug dealers out. Look at what has happened to Ky Avenue with those townhouses. You can drive up and down there just about anytime of the day and see drug deals going on. Half of the kids probably have different fathers of different races. It is sad the City of Pikeville is letting this go on. There should be zero tolerance. Run a criminal background check before letting those people in there. If any have drug/alcohol convictions, don't let them in. There would be a lot of empty townhouses there.

The Commons are being built for medical students to have a place to rent. They can pay the 1000 a month with a room mate. Also the company in charge has spoken to Walter May about a place for new doctors to have a place to live when they first come to Pikeville. They will never be worth a 1000 a month. If the utilities is included that would be a fair rent. Has far as keeping the so called trash out, they make more money then the average worker. Somewhere the city is making a killing off this.

I looked on their web site.. apts are small...1 bed.. $790.00 for 570 square feet which does not include utilities... will never fly here.no one can afford them and plenty of nice apts available now...check local paper, that are bigger and about half that price. Most of my fellow med students are living on loans and get housing assistance where we qualify. don't count on us to afford those rates.

Don't worry the Plywood Apartments are buckling already from all the Rain.

The Idiots have yet to put a Root on the Majority of them and they just keep building more.

4 Story walk up Apartments on a River Bank.

Should be a huge Success.

Elevators go both up and down.....The city wannabe "leaders" apparently only take things down...way, way down. Just check the airport's bank account they are pilfering. The airport had eight million put back for safety improvements and operations. The successful and fiscally responsible board was replaced and since then it looks like over $4,000,000.00 has gone to projects pleasing to the little mayor and his insufferably arrogant gang of !!&%??!!%$!!&ing followers.
