On the news last night as "breaking news" there was a 21 year old man that was charged with assault sending a man to the hospital for immediate surgery from being stabbed. The Daniel Gillespie they are talking about, is he the one from UPIKE that everyone knows? or is there another Daniel Gillespie?

Yes that is him. Why was he acting like he was a police officer? I am very curious.

It's hard to believe I think. I seen it on WYMT news last night as breaking news and could not believe it. I would love to get further information on this. It really is almost to hard to believe. I know him pretty well and I can' believe that he would ever do something like that.

I went to school with Daniel and I just couldn't believe that he was capable of doing something like that. He is such a happy, outgoing person. I was soo shocked to hear that on the news last night. And I would love to know more!

When people let drugs control there life this is what happens. If you all know him like you say you do then you should know he's not in a sober state of mind very often.

We all do need to pray for the man, Tommy Brey, who Daniel stabbed. The last time I had heard he was in ICU.

If this is true, it is tragic. People first make a choice to misuse drugs and then it quickly can turn into a real mental problem.

I hope that the man that was injured makes a quick recovery.

i always knew he had a drinking problem. I knew he was using drugs but obviously I didn't know it was that bad. It's pathetic. I hope the man recovers soon. I'm surprised they didn't get Daniel with attempted murder and all they got him with was assault. It shocks me. and Daniel better pray that the man doesn't die or he'll get charged with murder and will be doin some time. I feel so sorry for his mom and family for having to go through this. Hopefully Daniel will straighten up. Somethings just aren't worth it.

I knew Daniel in high school. He was a good boy back then. People change though, for better or for worse as they age. I wouldn't be one bit shocked if this incident was the result of a drug deal gone bad. I'm not saying that it was but I have heard of too many drug deals gone bad that ended in a stabbing or a shooting for that not to cross my mind.

Once again an idiot has to post something about drugs. I don't think it has been determined which Daniel it was. Seriously, some of you people love to talk about drugs so much I am betting you when you get off you say the words "Drugs" druggie etc. Stick to the topic.

In other words, you know nothing about this boy's life since high school. Yet, you are assuming he has changed. Not everything that goes wrong is because of drugs. I have personally wanted to slap the face of many people and I can assure you it has nothing to do with drugs. It mostly has to do with supidity. If most of you people who love to talk about drugs would put that much effort in something beneficial just think of what you could accomplish.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this was an attempted drug robbery gone bad. I personally know both these guys and can honestly say that was what happened. Daniel Gillespie dressed up a cop, his brother's police uniform at that, and attempted to rob Tommy Bray (who works at Hardees in Pikeville) of the dope he was selling. Once Tommy realized he was not actually a real cop, he began fighting with Daniel, hence the swollen black eye in Daniel's mug shot. During the scuffle, Daniel stabbed Tommy a couple times in the abdominal region. Daniel then proceeded to hide out at his buddy's apartment on Poplar Street, where he was arrested by the police.

OMG, please change your profession! Lawyers are a dime a dozen and cannot get a job once they are out of school. Have you seriously looked at the current salary for an attorney. It is great you are working toward something but switch before it is too late.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Virgo

It's a rather low-key day with a few disappointments to cope with along the way. If you were looking forward to a social event, such as meeting up with friends, it may fail to live up to your expectations. It might even be delayed or postponed through no fault of your own. There could also be problems about how much something is going to cost, forcing you to scale down your plans to make them more affordable.
