does anyone else have problems with this fuel buck program at food city?
i go there and shop and look at my receipt and i might have anywhere from 45 to 145 fuel bucks, but it only seems to work every OTHER time i go to buy gas
i scan my card and it says ok, and prompts me to go ahead and begin fueling, when u take the nozzle out and push the choice of grade, its supposed to change the price down to what u should be paying,
15 cents less than the reg price
but this doesnt seem to work every time
last month i lost about 100 fuel bucks because the pump didnt change, i put 5 dollars worth of gas in my car and left and swore i would never go back cause to me its a rip off

you know i never really paid attention to see if the price would drop...maybe i should start paying closer attention...if this isnt working then its a scam... you should have brought this to their attention...perhaps it would have been a simple fix i dunno.

Don't you have to have 150 points to get the .15 discount? I thought so. It asks you to scan your card everytime, I guess if you had enough points you'd get the discount.

You're right. Once a person has at least 150 points, they will then get a .15 discount on each gallon of gas they get at their next gas purchase. So, you would want to fill up instead of just getting a few dollars worth in order to save the most. Then, you have to start over. No more discounts until you have 150 points again.

Ive noticed it sometimes doesn't give me the discount, but I've never brought it to their attention cause I never buy much gas there anyway

I never seem to have a problem scanning my card. That is 15 more cents per gallon in my pocket...Glad food city offers this discount.

It screwed me out of my discount once when i KNEW I had one coming--it just didn't change the price. I noticed it right away and only pumped a couple gallons. By the way, lately I can buy gas in Va. for about 10 -15 cents /gallon cheaper than with food city's discount. Pikeville will ALWAYS screw us on gas.Always has, always will; I usually buy just enough to get me to where I know it's cheaper.

I agree with the price gauging in this area. Maybe we all need to complain big time until things are improved for us. When we were saving 10-15 cents on a gallon...That extra money can buy a poor child a gallon of milk. This country has gone to heck in a hand bag. Everything is about greed with these companies. I guess Im just different...I couldnt lay down and go to sleep at night knowing that I was taking food out of a child's mouth because of my greed.

U got it. Everytime you scan your card it lights up to let you know it DID scan. I know I use to work there. People just don;t get it. They think they get one everytime. Wrong. If they'd read they'd know, but I repeated that same story at least 50 times a day. But you do have to have 150 pts to get the discount.

You keep putting in gas there and you will have more problems than the pump messing with you. If you put 20 gal. in you save $3.00 and a can of fuel treatment cost a lot more to get that water out of your tank. That's is the sorriest gas in Pikeville. It make your automobile run very poorly.

I haven't gotten gas since they moved the store on town mtn. but I used to fill up every week when I did my shopping and then I got to paying attention the my mileage and my truck had gone from about 16 to 12. So I was losing 4 miles to the gallon for the cheaper price. So do the math I went back to putting SA or Chevron in it and got my mileage back up and I haven't bought FC gas since. I guess for people that don't regularly check their mileage they don't know that as usual cheaper isn't better in anything you get.

i think they should give the old bucks worth a dollar each instead of 15 cents a gallon, this is just another way to screw the consumer!!!!

I did not know that. I always buy my gas at FC. I've never paid attention to my mileage--but I will now. Thanks for the info.

WRONG! After you scan your card it immediately shows the price change on each of the grades of fuel, not after you remove the nozzle and start to pump. Maybe you should check for the price reduction as you should if you read the instructions. If the OK sign lights and the price doesn't IMMEDIATELY change before you fuel, you should go straight to the attendant and tell her/him what you have just experienced and not come here and complain for an error you most likely made!

i think they have food city in tennessee too, it used to not be 150 pts, food city keeps increasing it so you have to buy more groceries in order to get the discount, which is pretty damn shitty of them considering the high cost of gas and groceries!!!
i am guilty of shopping there and buying my gas there, cause you do find good food there, but still its wrong of them to keep increasing the number of points you have to have!!!
they should give their customers a better deal than that,
but i guess thats asking too much, they are becoming more of a corporation like walmart, food city is based in abingdon va and was started as a family owned business, so they offered their customers good deals and good prices.
but now that they are branching out, super dollar discount, gas and go and misty mt water they also own, they are becoming more corporate minded and dont care as much about the customers needs.

Lawyers and Oil companys the problem. If gas was $1.99 at the pumps like they should be (with all the oil being produced in America now) everything else would be more affordable

I've never had a problem. You have to have 150 points to get a discount and points expire at the end if the following month. I.e. Earned in November expire at end of December. You people bitch and moan but I'll support food city with their discount. You can drive on up to wal mart and pay more. Wal mart doesn't give anything. At least food city is offering something.
