"In an extreme persecution of the Holy Roman Church, there will sit Peter the Roman, who will feed the sheep through many tribulations, which once concluded, the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the fearful Judge will judge his people." - Saint Malachy

With the resignation of Pope Benedict and a front runner named Peter, the world is buzzing with the latest end-time prophecy. This one is based on the alleged prophecies to St. Malachy indicating that the next pope will be the last pope before the second coming of The Lord Jesus Christ. It's believed (by prophecy followers) that this is the Pope that is known as the "false prophet" in Christianity's Apocalyptic book of Revelation (Revelation 13:11-17). Seeing the world is apparently rapidly spiraling towards the end of Man's reign upon it, do you think the world is about to see the False Prophet himself become leader of The Roman Catholic Church and help usher in the rise of the Anti-Christ?

Disclaimer: This thread is intended for a serious, mature discussion and opinion sharing so we'd
appreciate that without the usual juvenile antics of certain Trolls. Also, this is not a thread about you (whomever, period) not believing in God or how you're an Atheist of how Christians are this or that so please keep your lack of wisdom to yourself.

Both links you provided came to the same conclusion; these prophesies are a hoax. Most prophesies are designed for the benefit of the prophet or the one who "uncovers" them centuries later. However you may admonish nonbelievers, it is obvious to us that religious zealots never met a prophesy theory they didn't love. It nurtures their desire to "prove" the Bible as true and correct, especially the book of Revelations which contrives an ending to life as we know it. Why such an incongrous book was selected for inclusion in the Bible is a true mystery. Perhaps, to provide fodder for prophesy conspiracies for centuries to come?

Yes, it's peculiar how everything foretold in Bible Prophecy has come to pass (or is appearing to do so currently) especially concerning the O.T. prophecies about Jesus Christ as well as all concerning Jerusalem/ Israel. Now, back to the actual subject...

The Vatican's conclave begins tomorrow so we shall soon know if this upcoming Pope shall be Petrus Romanus or will the supposed hoax continue to be debated?

Pope Francis? Name taken from Saint Francis of Assisi Who was Saint Francis of Assisi, Italian San Francesco dÂ’Assisi, baptized Giovanni, renamed Francesco, original name Francesco di Pietro di Bernardone - original name Pietro - ok - now we have the Peter or Petrus - What about the Roman part or Romanus?
Our new Pope, Francis, was born on Dec. 17, 1936 in Buenos Aires as Jorge Mario Bergoglio. He is 76 years old, and while an Argentinian by birth, his surname betrays his Italian roots. His father was a railway worker who immigrated to Argentina from Italy, and Bergoglio is one of five children.
There you have it folks - Pope Francis is Italian - of Roman decent -
So Petrus Romanus he is - false prophet - he will usher in the anti-Christ.
