During the past week several student groups like the education class and student council did lots of really nice things for the teachers including fresh fruit, a luncheon, and a dessert day.

What did Superintendent Jerry Green do? Nothing......not even an email.

What did the elected school board members do? Nothing......not even an email.

What did Principal Michael Rowe do? Nothing.....not even an email.

In fact, pink slips were given during TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK to teachers and instructional assistants.

The fact is that most teachers, staff and students at PHS work very hard on a daily basis with very little support from the administration. They don't care about and appreciate the staff and make it very obvious........They should be ashamed, but they aren't. As long as teachers, staff and students keep making them look good, they will continue to treat teachers, custodians, maintainence workers, & cooks like dirt.

Taxpayers deserve to know THE REAL TRUTH......

Who said it was teachers appreciation day? The students, teacher, janitors or who? Doesn't the school board compensate the teachers for their work they do? At a much higher pay rate than the county teacher I may add. If the teacher are so unhappy because they didn't get a email, maybe they all should just quit and work for the county making on average 10k less a year. That would show Mr. Green wouldn't it? You said the education class and the student council did the nice things for them, does the football, basketball, cheerleaders, and the average student not appreciate them either? You said that MOST teachers staff and students work hard every day. Why don't they get rid of the teachers and staff that doesn't?

Teacher Appreciation Week/Day is a nationally recognized time every year. Educated people are well aware of it. I said "most" because I can't speak for everyone and it would be unrealistic to say 100% do because they may not, here or in any school. I can only speak for my own classroom. I have no desire to work for the county. Been there, done that. And when I did, my administrators did numerous things during Teacher Appreciation Week for us. I am not apologizing for making more than county teachers because neither of us make enough. All teachers are underpaid. In addition, the city has a higher tax base than the county. I am one of those city taxpayers......Actually I pay twice, once on my home and property and again on what is withheld from my payroll taxes. I am sure that most, but probably not all students do appreciate their teachers at some point in life. It may take a while for some of them. The reason I singled out those groups is because they did something above and beyond to honor the teachers.

In closing, while your reading comprehension is somewhat lacking, if you can read this, THANK A TEACHER LOL!!!!

What about he people who doesn't live in the city, doesn't work in the city, but work for a clinic outside the city limits. They still have to pay not only city tax, but city school tax. Even if they do not have a child in school. Even worse, the city limits and city school district is different. You can live in the city limits but your kids can not attend the school unless they pay tuition. If the teachers are so hurt, they should quit and look for a county job and take that 10k a year pay cut. At least they would get a email or a umbrella. Sounds like a fair deal.

A simple "thank you" email would have been nice. I have several umbrellas and I certainly won't be taking a pay cut to work in Pike County. I just don't think it is good leadership to not say thanks, nor do I think it is good manners. But, I never thought Green & Rowe were good leaders to begin with. However, manners and saying "please" & "thank you" or "excuse me" don't happen very much today. They fit right in in today's society.

Why do you think you are better than the county and they do not get 10 k more money that is ridiiclous. I know I have a son in the county and a daughter in the city there is very little difference. Get off your high hat and do not think you are better than us.

You'd better hope Mr. Green doesn't figure out who you are. They don't take critism from inside the school family there well at all. If they figure out who you are you will be history. As a former teacher I've wittnessed it happening in the past. Good Luck, you'd better learn to keep your mouth shut.

I never said I was better. Re-read my posts. But city teachers have a higher pay scale than the county. It's common knowledge.

It is know by a couple at our school of who you are. AND yes you commented tha you prefer the city.. ANd you ran the Administration down. Maybe they need to read this post. SO when we pass in the hall ..just wonder if It has been show to the administration. That would make for a long year if they read it. SO you might want to wonder just who will be showing the post or perhaps posting it.
Would for sure make a great bulletin board cover .
And as mentioned get off of your high horse as you are no better than any other teacher/custodian aide or anyone...especially in the county. Just because you are stuck up with your nose in the air and you may think you are better... WRONG

Perhaps it is. It seems worrying about getting a thank you or email from administration is rather petty; considering all the things in life that are really imp.ortant

I think manners and saying thank you for a job well-done are very important, just like prayer in schools, saying the Pledge of Allegiance, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the 10 Commandments. I am also a big fan of an honest day of hard work over hand-outs, respect for your elders and daily prayer. I know EXACTLY what I believe in. That is why I choose to speak my opinion and enjoy the very freedoms that guarantee us all the right to do so.
