Joey Collins--VET
Disappointed too

I like Dr. Collins and he always comes off kind and caring. He has a good re por with people, but he lets the girls do all the dirty work. They hire rough necks (for lack of a better word) girls that have little education, they aren't well trained.
It isn't like any Vet or Drs. office I have seen.
If someone is hired and knows to much or the girls don't like them they will make it as hard on them as they can until they get rid of them. The reason it is so crowded is he does take walk-ins, people like Dr. Collins nature so they put up with it. This is a huge area with only a few options that are convenient. One Dr. left because of the way his office was run. He is a good vet, but he doesn't have anything to do with the office end of it. He needs to hire some educated people. People that are good with the public, update his office. It is too big to be run the way it is, but they seem to like it less organized. They don't have the time to meet the demand and give the care they need, especially when it comes to boarding. I hope he continues to do well. I think he would do better to make his place more organize and more professional. It may cost a little more, but it would pay off in the long term. The people that are hired reflects on him. You shouldn't be treated that way and have to pay too.

i have been going to ekac for years. i have two very old dogs one fourteen this year and the other 20. Dr Collins and his staff have always been nice and efficent. Most of the girls there have animals. Some as old as mine. The only time i have ever seen eyes role was when a person wasnt watching their pet and it fell off the table. Also at first he gave me the cheap arthritise pills that hurt their tummys more. When i ask why he told me some people wouldnt pay 4 better meds. some kind of meds is better than none. Thumbs up for Joey and his staff.

He is costly, but his staff does a good job. I prefer the Animal Clinic on Town Mountain Road. Fred's great.

Joey has always been a good vet, both of my dogs (small) have been there for different things; spay,shots,sick...hes helped them each and everytime. He is a nice man and seems to care. His office staff on the other hand are not very friendly, they act as if they hate their job and anyone that comes in..
So I say A+ for the vets
and F for the other staff members
can i ask how much it costs to get your small dog fixed and how old they were? im about to get mine fixed.

There are no "interns" there...only certified vets. Everyone is entitled to there own opinion but I can honestly say that I have never had any kind of problem there and I've never been in a room that had not been cleaned before hand.
Well maybe they should be tested again for recertification!!!

I have been going there for 20 years and have never laid eyes on Joey. Over the years there have been some good ones come and go. Just here lately they seem to be in such a hurry to get you out, or they don't know what they're doing. Some of them are to rough on small animals. Especially sick animals. I am going to start going to Mark and Melanie Greene.

Valley Vet Clinic is a new vet clinic located near Robinson Creek. They are very nice people and are wonderful with my cat. As long as they are in business, I will never go anywhere else.

Mark Green , down below prestonsburg is absolutely the best Vet I have ever met, and there have been a bunch of them. I used to train and breed Walking Horses and seems we were always in the need of a vet. Dr. Green doesn't treat large animals, which I assume is so he doesn't have to leave the office. He treats your Pets like they are his, and treats the owners with respect.

If you have been going there for 20 years and never laid eyes on Joey you must go every five years. He's always there when I go.

The owner is Whitney Maynard. I think they just opened up at the first of the year. It is the cleanest vet's office I have ever been to and everyone there was so nice to us and took great care of my cat. They are located off the 4 lane on a little hill just past the road construction on the right near Quality Foods. They also have a facebook page.

I took my dog there and I really like it. She isnt a new vet. She had another office in a different state. She seems to be a real good vet. I would recommend you check her out. The staff is really friendly to. One other thing I really liked not a long wait like with other places around here. Which that will probably change once she gets her office established.

We took our pet to Fred and during the examination for some reason he smacked the injured place on the pet. He then told us the pet would be fine and would heal and definitely would not die from the injury. Then sent the pet back home. Our pet acted a little funny but Fred said it was fine so I didn't think anything was wrong. 3 days later our pet came running to us howling in agonizing pain and died on the floor at our feet in one of the most painful and agonizing deaths I've ever seen. Our beloved pet died in about 4 minutes. It ran to us begging for help and died at our feet. I have no ideal why a vet would smack an injury on a pet, our pet flinched with such pain when Fred struck the injury.
I've learned my lesson with Fred at a cost that no price can be put on. Its my opinion that this vet simply doesn't know what hes doing half or if any of the time. So go ahead and brag what a good vet Fred is, go ahead and take your loved pets to this man, And one day in my opinion one or two out of ten of you will pay an agonizing price when your pet dies in horrible pain at your feet looking up at you bagging for help.

I will NEVER go back to Joey Collins he is rude, his clinic is nasty I spend like 50 bucks on flea an worm medicine for my cats which isnt a big deal the big deal is that I took my kitten in to get spayed She got her fleas back and the worms back I called up there and complained an said they should clean they cages out some and the nurses said we don't always have time to do that. So i had to spend another bunch of money to get more worm medicine an more flea medicine but I had to wait a few weeks due to the fact I gave them a recent dosage. I also asked for worm medicine never had problems an a lady was asking me the exact weight I gave around what I thought my cats weighed an since I didn't no the weight she refused even tho everyone else who ever helped me out was ok with the weight range I gave so I now give my business to floyd co they treat your animals ten times better.
I havent commented on this post, until now. I understand that people love their animals like members of the family. So do I. I havent had pets in years due to where I live. I am a personal friend of Joey Collins, though I havent seen/spoken with him in years. I have never seen/heard ANYONE refer to him as "rude". You may have not been treated well by the front desk. You may not have liked another Doctor you saw while there. I, personally, never had problems with his other Doctors, but maybe you did. The reason I had to see other Doctors years ago, is Joey usually, if not always, handles the larger animals and is making house calls quite often. The Doctors there were always efficient and would answer any questions I had. There is not a rude bone in Joeys body, and he is one of the finest people I know. He is under lots of pressure and handles himself about as well as a human can. Thanks for being critical of Joey. It reminds me I need to get back in touch with him and see how he and his family are doing. Joey is a great friend.

Just saw this post. Mark Green used to work at Joeys clinic in the 90's. He also is a great guy, and seemed to be a great, caring Vet. I would recommend him also. He is beside RT. 23 just North of the Prestonsburg exits. I think Mark and Joey both are excellent.
