I read one of Vanderbecks articles recently and he touched on a battle over the newest airport appointees. Now nothing had been posted or reported about any pending new appointees so I wonder what dog he had in the issue. Is it possible he was/is getting info and instructions from the city?????

Without any futher comments from Vanderbeck I done some research on the matter and this is what I discovered. The county had two board seats opening and Mike Debourbon along with Brett Wagner was offered up by the Judge. Yes the same Debourbon that set on the board that ammassed funds that helped assure that the airport would not be leaning on the taxpayers to pay the bills for sometime. Problem is that with that huge pot of money politicians will come a knockin and Mr. Debourbon was quite protective of the publics money. Well in the end the politicians won out and sent Mr. Debourbon packing along with the other board members that felt the same was about the publics money.

With the word of the impending appointment of Mr. DeBourbon it appears that someone convienced a frail and very ill Jack Sykes to recend his resignation to block the DeBourbon appointment. Now how benificial can Mr. Sykes be to the airport operations if he is to ill to serve. For that matter how many times did the board meet in the last two years? Possibly 7 times out of a total 24 schedulded. Isn't that a clear indicator of just how focused this board has been.

So in the end Brett Wagner was appointed and the DeBourbon appointment was blocked. I wonder who in the city has the issue with DeBourbon. An issue that would see a member recend a resignation request. Please don't give me the excuse that Sykes health is expected to improve therefore his change of mind. Please look at Sykes attendance record when his health was good. Look at all of their attendance records between 2010 and 2012 and one will get a clear picture of how much the airport means to the current board.

And Vanderbeck can talk about pending apointment issues between the Judge and Mayor but fail to follow up on why DeBourbon was not re-appointed.

Vanderbeck disappoints me.

That's a fact. Others have done their legwork while Vanderbeck has dutifully turned a blind eye to the entire issue of alleged corruption involving his close friends.
I heard the facts are known now and it's expected that something scary might happen concerning "revenue diversion". The travesty committed by Frankie's new airport board and the city is a very hot topic in many rooms this time.
Lets do it

I heard that Frankie had a screaming temper tantrum and swore that DeBourbon's seat on the board would only be "over his dead body". Mayor Frankie seems to fear DeBourbon and what he knows. Mr. Brent Wagner will be an asset because he won't be a "yes man" to Little Frankie. Little Frankie couldn't force him to abandon his principals like he has done with all the others.

It's time we replace all those on the board who have been under the control of the city and never cared one bit about the airport they were supposed to run. Now that Frankie got what he wanted, his buddies on the board couldn't possibly care less what happens up there. The mayor refuses to keep his luxury airplane at the airport he is destroying, and I heard he doesn't even want to buy jet fuel from there.

E.C. has a "paper". In my opinion, there's nothing really to write about in this city. Nothing really important, nothing worth paying my good money for. If E.C. can get one going, lets get one going for Pike County as a whole.

If a qualified individual, unlike Jeff Vanderbeck who is NOT qualified, would start a newspaper, I would definitely subscribe.

I think another paper is desperately needed in E. Ky. and it would probably cause the ANE to close or fire the imitation of a journalist Vanderbeck has proven himself to be.

I'm constantly embarrassed by Vanderbeck's childish rants, raves, and crusades to silence any and all who oppose Little frankie. It's sickening!

That's a great idea. A letter writing campaign and/or internet contacts. Maybe those businesses would be interested in what the citizenry actually think of the ANE. I'm willing to begin today, but will have to go borrow a 'paper' to compile a list. Then I think there's only one use for it afterward.

Has anyone looked at how the airport board gained posession of the land in the first place. I feel a deed search is in order.

Vanderbeck is no journalist......he is an advertising sales person who manipulated his way into a position someone who is ethically challenged should never have. Just my opinion.

Daily Horoscope for May 18

Pisces

There's a clash today between the past and the present. Someone wants to dwell nostalgically on the good old days but someone else is determined to forget all that and only concentrate on the here and now. The trouble is that neither side will want to concede to the other person's point of view, leading to bad feelings and upsets. If you are one of these people, try not to be too entrenched in your own opinions.
