Are there any parents on here who have chldren that attend Pikevill Independent schools who are not concerned that our children are forced to attend school or be marked absent over the illnesses. I seen and heard about Pike and Floyd Counties, just because our kids dont go to the a county school doesnt mean that they cant get sick. Maybe its because they secretly make sure that all of their staff members are getting the Tamiflu so they know that if all the teachers can show up for work then they will have no reason not to open school, money its all they care about. Im glad that they are closing the county schools up though.

It's my opinion that at least 95% of parents that have children attending Pikeville Elementary and High are worried. But what can they do?

My children was exposed to a couple of kids with confirmed flu type A which is h1n1. They rode the bus with them, sat at the breakfast table with them and was around them all day.

The sick children went to the office and the nurse Rhonda sent them back to their homerooms. They came home very ill.

One of my children has a fever and flu symptoms. I'm not sending any of my children to school for the rest of the week.

A couple of my friends aren't sending their kids to school either. They're too worried. If I were you I'd just not send them.

Here I sit with a 100 degree fever, chills, raw chest and feeling very, very bad. I more than likely have h1n1 too. I need some Tamiflu...

Im not sure but I have other chlidren that go there and my of my children has already had the flu but I have two others that go there too and I have seen about 7 staff members at total pharmacy getting tamiflu so who knows?! You know they act like the city kids cant get sick. Well maybe they cant because all of their parents are pharmacist or doctors. So I guess they dont want to disappoint those paretns.

Mine goes to the High School. I'm sick myself. So is the husband and my youngest (he's 1). So far not my oldest. Haven't been to the dr. yet. I think chances are we caught ours in lexington,, we all 3 were there but not my oldest. I told my oldest if he felt the least bit sick to call me ASAP and I would come get him... he said "Mom they won't let us leave unless we are puking or running a fever". Oh I promised him they would. When my wretched sick butt comes in there coughing on them,, I think they will. But that is just sad!

My son attends Pikeville Elementary and The Dr. wouldn't let him attend school for a week cuz he had a comfirmed case of the flu. The temp reach to 104 and I like to never got it back down, so if my baby gets sick at that school and the Bastards don't call me then I'll get me a lawyer and make them pay for the Medical Bills and see what else I can get out of them..Then maybe that will tell them that something serious as H1N1 isn't to be played with especially when it comes to my child or anyone elses children.

Quit being stupid! Do you guys think they want kids with the flu at school? You are adults you should know better than that. The liability is to great to keep a kid at school with h1n1. And they wouldn't let them stay at school, for it spreading and causing lower attendance is the last thing they want. This is so stupid mother of 2 if you're really that worried about it why don't you change you're childrens school? I know if I thought that the school would endanger the life of my child I would change their school, because anything other would be bad parenting. Almost like staying on topix all night and sleeping all day . Justamomma I understand the need to believe you're son, but if you would call the school I'm sure they would ease you're mind about him being able to call if he were not feeling well.

I have a daughter that attends Pikeville Elementary School, and yes I do agree that they need to shut the school down at least for the rest of the week!!! All illnesses spread and mostly at schools. I just don't see what it would hurt to let the kids stay home for 2 days.. From what I have been told there has been at least 138 absences in both the high and elementary school this week..

Honey I do believe that this was opened for opinions!! Don't get me wrong there has been a lot of panic going on by parents. And I am concerned myself, but when it comes to the safety of our children, it is much more serious to me.

There are an estimated 150 kids out from pikeville elem today
they will not shut down the school
The fact is if you just keep your kids home and enough dont show up they will have to call it off so its up to the parents to make that decision

someone needs to tell this to john m stumbo. they don't care how sick your child is, honey, they better be at school. all they care about is attendance. academics even comes in second when it comes to attendance!!so if your child has been decapitated, he needs to come to school with his head in his hand!

Pikeville schools don't teach real life situations. They need to teach their kids and teachers what a train looks like and not to try to out run it.
