I've been asked about the old sewer tunnels that run beneath the streets of Pikeville and whether or not Indian artifacts have been found there. I have not found any facts that lead me to believe that there has been any major Indian finds in these tunnels. As far as I could find out, these are simply storm drains that were built in the early 1900s and are nothing more than that. However, there have been arrow heads found, but that is not so unusual. Arrow heads have been found all over Pikeville and them being in the underground tunnels would not be surprising. It has been said that Pikeville was used as an old Indian burial ground, but I have not seen any proof of that. I checked with my contact at the Upike library and was told that there is no evidence to support an Indian burial ground being in Pikeville.

I have not personally been in these tunnels and I am seeking permission from the City of Pikeville to enter them. If I get permission, and they are deemed safe to enter, I will explore for myself.

The tunnels were built for a time such as this when fools voted for political hacks that lost their races so bad it was an embarrassment for anyone that supported them. Fuzzy, Wayne, Keith supporters moved to the tunnels ashamed to stick their head back out in society.

There's nothing new about those tunnels. There is nothing mysterious about them. But, I would not go down in them because they are so unsafe.

Pikeville College person told you wrong.

An Indian Burial remain was found during construction and excavation of the Main Street church of Christ. This was in the 1980's. They also found arrow heads.

Don't know what they did with the remains but my uncle was working at the site when it was found.

It may have been in the newspaper back then if you can find a way to search it.

You are right, there have been Indian remains found, but that is different than an entire Indian Burial Ground. I was talking about the classical Indian Burial grounds. Though, it is possible that there are some in there area. As for the tunnels, I have been granted permission to go into the tunnels in the very neat future. I don't have any experience in such work, but I will have some colleagues to help me. If we find anything I will post it here. Though, I may find nothing but dirt and mud. I've been told there are two main entrances to the tunnels. Strangely enough, one is near the Main Street Church of Christ. The other is from street level down a man hole. The man hole may attract unwanted attention so I will try for the other. I will be riding my bike through Pikeville surveying the area looking for other artifacts and possibly another entrance location. Hopefully, I will find something of interest.

Well, I forgot that Saturday was Muscle on Main so I was unable to do any proper investigation on the tunnels. However, I decided that I would go to the cemetery beside UPIKE and look around at another case that I am following. Turns out, there were several young people doing their own investigation. I guess they were looking at the graves and at OCTAVIA HATCHER's grave witch supposedly haunts the area. I wonder if these people even had a clue who I am. I ran into them twice, but we did not exchange words. I was riding my bike and perhaps they wondered what I was doing riding a bike so late at night and at a cemetery. If any of them see this post, then they have seen Barsoom.

I found what appears to be an extremely old bone while exploring a mine that's been abandoned for at least 80 years. I've sent it to LMU for confirmation. I'm sure it's nothing though.

I still haven't found any evidence for the underground tunnels in Pikeville. An old city worker swears that they are there, but I cannot find anything. There may be some truth to it, but at least they are not as described by him. One entrance is supposed to be where the River Fill 10 is, but it is so hard to investigate because there are too many people around. I've gone late at night, but even with a flashlight and the surrounding lights, I cannot find any evidence of the so called entrance. Or, at least one of them. I am short of calling it a hoax unless someone can guide me to a better location. I hear there are Indian artifacts to be found, but as of now, I doubt it. I will concentrate my energy to other projects for now.

Who do you think you are? " Then they have seen barsroom" you say it like you feel you're important. maybe you are Indiana Jones. I know how to get in the tunnel so I went there when I was a kid

Most of the skeletons are probably left over from the Runyon, Keese and UMG Keith Hall Era. I am hoping the FBI have archeology team getting ready to dig!

Who am is nobody, but I am an investigator. I am not Indiana Jones. I just report what I find. It is only my opinion. It is only for those in the know that I speak to. If you have any information of these tunnels, please say so. Maybe I just haven't found the entrance, yet.

The entrances to the tunnels used to get rid of unwanted bodies killed off by PCDC guards is in the old courthouse on main street. Another entrance is connected to the women's side of the jail and comes out in the men's side. Oddly enough Freddie Lewis had a special tunnel built connecting the womens side of the jail to his bathroom in his office recent vacated by a great jailer.

Since you know so much about these tunnels sir, can you tell me about the devils tunnel. It's near the YMCA. I have been down it personally and it's very deep down. I was wondering if anyone has died there. Rumor is that a young girl slipped and fell, and busted her head and slide out the end of the tunnel and drowned. Have you been here or experienced it in anyway.

Why would there be an entrance at the Riverfill 10 when that location was previously the river? I do realize that a storm drain may possibly drain into the river; but, with the rerouting of the river the drain would have been removed an relocated. Methinx that this is a bogus post.

It is a storm drain that empties into the river at nearly the end there is a ladder to climb out. But the water empties right beside a used train track.

No this is a little below the YMCA. The entrance is right behind of the road. You have to crouch to get past the beginning
