Alcohol and Sand, poor alcohol and sand on your head. The lice will get drunk and get in a rock fight and kill one another!

Works for crabs also!

A few things that I've found to work is the shampoo. You have to treat twice in order to get rid of it. My advice, use the name brand.
Clean all linens. Throw pillow cases in the dryer.
I never could find an easy way to pick the nits out, so I cut them out with scissors. Someone said baby oil, but the comb just slid right through, leaving the nit.
A secret that I found on the Internet...lice can't tolerate heat, so run a straightener through her hair several times slowly, making sure that you get as close to her scalp as possible. A blow dryer helps too.
The shampoo says to treat after 7-10 days, allowing time for the nits you missed to hatch and you can kill them before they mature. But I check every day after the first shampoo to see if I see any. Usually around five days, I'll do the second shampoo.
This is a lot of work, but these things are very hard to get rid of. You can't just shampoo and think that that is all.
I also buy the spray to spray the beds. Not sure if it really works, but it gives me piece of mind.
Good luck.

I meant to say, throw everything in the dryer, it's the heat that kills them. Everything that was on her bed, including stuffed animals, if you don't want to throw it in the dryer, bag it and tie it off. They also suffocate. Leave the bag sealed, I usually leave it alone until they've gotten rid of it for a couple of weeks.

Canola oil/vegetable oil/corn oil - basically any cooking oil. coat hair in the cooking oil and leave on for a few minutes. wash out. sometimes it takes a few washes to get the oil out of your hair. the oil smothers the bugs and breaks the bond between hair and eggs, therefore preventing eggs from hatching. comb with lice/nit comb. eggs slide right off the hair. depending on how bad the infestation is, it could take a few times of combing to get all the eggs. This works with one treatment, no chemical stink to breath and it's cheap. you can do a family for 3 dollars instead of buying a bottle of medicine for each head. always make sure when you treat for lice you dry you pillows, cases, sheets and blankets on high heat, 2 to 3 runs each and the lice will be dead. vacuum your matresses and carpets well. and anyone with children in school should be checking heads atleast once a week. lice spread like fire in schools.

I spent more on lice medication last year than I did on my kids school clothes....all the info above I have done and works..here are a few others spray your daughters hair with vinegar before she leaves for school...the smell leaves within a few minutes but keeps on working....I use cheap hair conditioner...I soak my daughters hair with it leave it on 10 min then use a nit comb and I don't even have to go strand by strand...rack your comb on a sheet of paper each time and you can see the nits and lice...the lower grades get their hair checked...the upper grades also have it but they don't check their heads...and to the smart butts on here...the cleanest of people get lice...think schools should have to pay for lice treatment

schools are a cesspool. how long have the schools been back in now, 2 weeks? and already lice and so so many sick with the flu and colds.
the schools ask the parents to buy hand sanitizer and bleach, etc, but it doesnt keep them from passing germs back and forth.
and you are right, it only takes one child in the school to have lice and pass it on to so many others.
then they bring it home and pass it on to the family.

You should contact "Fox News Is A Joke" it will pick the lice and nits from your heads and eat them, like the animal it is.

Shave one side of your head and set the other side on fire, then knock em in the head with an ice cream stick when they run out!

Again, this also works for crabs!

For anyone interested, there is a spray you can buy called "Happily Ever After". I'm not sure of most retailers, but the beauty schools and some salons sell it. It doesn't work for the treatment of lice, but it does prevent lice. I believe it's about $10/spray bottle. Might be worth looking into once you treat it.
